    With Ward & GGG weights it doesn't get any easier than...164....!

    Lets go TEN rounds too since Ward can't make 160 and doesn't own any title!

    Ten rounds, twelve rounds, doesn't matter. Ward will be KFTO in less than eight.

      Nah, the winner of Cotto/Canelo will do whatever he likes.

        If you are going to comment, why not comment accurately ?

        Ward chose to fight in a higher division so that he would not have to compete for the SMW spot against his close friend Andre Dirrell. They did not want to impede each others progress through the olympic trial system.

        Ward won Olympic Gold by fighting as the smaller man.

        He then immediately dropped back down to SMW, turned pro, and weighed 165 for his first pro fight back in 2004.

        Attempting to insinuate that Ward is a LHW is at least inaccurate, if not dishonest.

          The 172 thing.....

          Ward is 30+, was inactive for 18 months, obviously put on a bit of weight during that timeframe, and cannot make 168 as easily as he could a few years back..... 172 is a managed reintroduction back to 168.

          His next fight will likely be at 170, then down to 168 after that.

          I have seen this before, particularly with older fighters.

          A well-managed reintroduction is 1) easier 2) less risky 3) will help preserve his career. Weight fluctuation/manipulation is a killer, most dont seem to understand that.

            Ward's style is perfect for the amateurs scoring system. After turning a pro, he only added some grappling, clinching and accidental headbutts (i.e. rough house and good ol' style, doe).

            Aaah ok, everybody does know what happened.

            Also..... Ward weighed 165 when he first turned pro.

              do you really have to ask that?

                  100-200k buys? Or are we talking around 300k like Canelo-Lara/Cotto-Martinez?

                    And in the longer term, especially outside the sport, unifying the MW titles will do a lot more for GGG's legacy than a win over .... Andre who?
                    To be fair, I think that applies to Golovkin, way more than Ward.

                    In hindsight, this is what I believe history will say about Andre Ward.

                    * Olympic Gold Medallist
                    * Super-6 Tournament winner
                    * Dominated 168
                    * Dominated 175

                    Ward has pretty much already achieved the first 3 objectives on that list.

                    Golovkin has been campaigning for 9 years, has done absolutely nothing, and has shown no interest whatsoever in meaningful fights.

                    Case in point..... Team Golovkin actually attempted to argue that Willie Monroe was chosen over Erislandy lara because Monroe is a bigger draw.

                    Whereas with Canelo, his promoter made himself look silly trying to steer the ginger kid away from Lara, but Canelo wasn't having it..... Canelo demanded Lara, and forced the fight, infuriating his promoter in the process..... and he did it simply because some fans were saying that Lara cuold beat him.

                    The red-head kid came good, just waiting for Golovkin now, but he is clearly a very well-managed fighter. And "well-managed" is the most respectful term that I can think of, Golovkin is not far short of "protected".

                      I buy it with the Direll brothers, obviously don't want 2 brothers at the same weight. But with Ward? HA

                      He is a naturally big dude, that like to pretend he is not.
                      It is a well-known fact, and both fighters have admitted it on numerous occasions. Also, dont you remember the issue over Ward/Dirrell not wanting to fight each other during the Super-6?
