They want to fight GGG now to get it over with to then move up to fight Kovalev. They arent moving up to 175 to then move down to 168. This is pretty obvious to everyone but a few and Ward's team alluded or outright said it themselves if im not mistaken.

Ward is absolutely in the position to pick this order, not sure what makes you think otherwise. Kovalev's side wants the fight, and if Ward moves up GGG nolonger has his big fight, while Ward heads into a legacy fight for the Light heavyweight title, GGG would still be in his mid 30s struggling for his first defining fight, trying to lure out weltwerweights

Ward-Kovalev was never going to be for this year, they said it since the discussions began and Duva has already said they have plans for Kovalevs next fight already.

Why not? Please explain your babble.

They're both picking and choosing. Neither have the pull to call the shots when facing a top bill. Both failed to get their Chavez Jr matchup, because neither are "A side".

        • I like how Ward team does business though, they get on the PHONE WITH PROMOTERS and trying to hash out deals, they don't just talk tough in front of Boxing Media but then don't even attempt to make a fight!

I knew 164 wasn't going to happen, that was a BS request from GGG Team. If you're willing to fight Froch and Chavez Jr at 168, why not Ward at 168? That don't even make sense! Even on a recent interview, again I know his English is not great but in that Interview he said 164 for Ward but then also said he would come up to 168 for big fight? Ward vs GGG is not a big fight? Is that going to be the excuse people run with that "Nobody Wants To See Ward vs GGG"?

Why not just gracefully bow out and say, "Look, I'm Just Not Ready For Ward Right Now, Let Me Clean Up At 160 Then I Hope To Fight Ward In The Future When I'm Ready To Move Up!". Why is that so hard to do? PRIDE?

I know. Ward already gave his plan of attack. These guys just need to get with the program.

I don't care for the catch weight but I also don't believe GGG has to move up to 168. He's a small middleweight.

But if Ward is so insistent ( which I don't think he is) then take it at 164lbs or STFU.

But we all know why he doesn't accept the deal because part of his confidence in beating GGG is to get him to fight at a new weight class against a guy who isn't above breaking the rules.
So what youre saying is GGG was gonna move up to full 168 for Chavez and Froch but for Ward he wont and thats Ward looking for all the advantages?

And yes i agree worry about whats on table and for GGG, who is 33/34 and has yet to fight elite, its there. But I forgot GGG wanting 164 is Ward wanting advantages

Isn't that the same exact thing GGG is doing for Canelo?

These two should meet at 166.
GGG said that when he first came to the US and before he had even had one fight. It was a statement to get some publicity and interest going in a fighter new to the US boxing scene. Later on, that statement was amended to state that he would move to another division only for a PPV fight.

Why 166? 164 is directly between 160 and 168 and as there would be no titles on the line, it would make perfect sense.
