    No it doesn't.

Do you put jobs you didn't get on your resume?

Im not saying Hopkins defense is better than Floyds or Pernells.

Im saying applying dumb logic like that, leads to a situation where you must objectively rate Hopkins as better than Floyd, because you are now including longevity as a criteria.
This I agree with. Plenty of offensive minded fighters have had long successful careers and are in great health. It's a myth that longetivity only applies to defensive fighters.

I'm not gonna argue longevity, Whitaker was just as well rounded as Mayweather so no point really. Like, I guess longevity matters but in this case, it really doesn't, pointless discussion.

They might have fought a long time but by the time they were in their mid to late 30s they were nowhere near the top of their sport in the vast majority of cases. Offensive fighters usually have several losses (some by KO) by the time they reach 35. Longevity is more than just fighting into old age, longevity in boxing is being able to fight into your latter years and still dominate! And that usually only happens with smart defensive type fighters.

I want to add, the way Marquez looked in that 3rd Pacquiao fight...amazing, just amazing and the guy has been touched plenty.

A more apt analogy would be putting jobs you did have , but who would give you a poor referral, on your resume. Of course Duran should get credit for fighting and surviving 15 rounds with Hagler and likewise Hopkins should get some credit for stepping up and surviving Kovalev.

Early in Marquez's career he rarely got touched up. He started taking a little more punishment in his 30s but the guy has been in very few wars, plus there su****ions he has been doping lately.

Longetivity to me has more to do with number of fights, matchmaking and lifestyle outside of the ring. Not so much your style. Whitaker, Toney and Jones never took a lot of punishment but weren't fighting at the elite level by their mid to late 30s. Duran had longetivity and was offensive minded. Julio Caesar Chavez was fighting at a high level after 80 fights.

Just because you win a world title at age 45 doesn't mean you roll and slip punches better, transition from defense to offense better, use your feet better than next man who was shot by age 32. Fighters age differently.

People are getting mad cos Hops isn't being labelled as great a defensing fighter as pee or may...so what? there's more to Bhops game than that, although he is a terrific defensive fighter in his own right.
