Floyd May disagrees. His synopsis of Maidana in an interview is he dishes out more than he gets because he has an underrated defense. My own perception has seen Maidana make certain adjustments and show underrated boxing chops, as well as underrated defense. In the Broner and Mayweather fights he even had varying degrees of success boxing them in the MIDDLE of the ring.
Marcos Maidana is overrated

thats how it works...if you cant move away you get hit. You clearly havent boxed before, you get hit because of positioning, Maidana certainly could have moved out of the way if he was positioned better and didnt leave himself open. Watch the fight and wear your spectacles this time smart ass
thought that was pretty obvious.that lopez **** is way overblown. maidana said lopez didn't have any power on those punches, he just couldn't move away from them because lopez gave him a dead leg. chino recovers a round later and dismantles him inside 6 but you got idiots calling that a life and death fight lol.
stat percentages aren't reliable. missed punches are counted way too often, especially with maidana's defensive subtleties. he does have good defense. the lack of physical damage in slug fights proves this.
lol what constructive criticism? you sounded salty over someone saying maidana has a better defense than matthysse, which i don't agree with as they are both equal.Comment

short stocky guys always look like brawlers to a degree because they have to step into range and risk getting hit to land
just like tall lanky guys look like they're throwing "lazy jabs" that actually hit incredibly hard
maidana's defense is not bad at all, he's just using the physique he was givenComment

I couldnt care less about your opinion on Matthysse, this is a Maidana thread. And how on earth have you come to he assumption I've called maidana a bad boxer When I picked him over Thurman and Porter. You're more sensitve than my ex gfs lmao. His defence is not his strongest attribute and if you disagree, your boxing knowledge needs sharpening.
P.S Bradley, Mosley and Joel Diaz have said Matthysse' s defence is very good.
Maidana-Matthysse would be a hell of a fight though...Last edited by SalimShady1212; 07-15-2015, 11:12 PM.Comment

Well I'd think in order to be successful you gotta go with the style that suits your physique and abilities best. If you fight at 147 and have a 66" reach, ain't gonna be easy to keep fighters from getting close enough to hit you by jabbing.short stocky guys always look like brawlers to a degree because they have to step into range and risk getting hit to land

i haven't doubted his boxing skillls, robert garcia has made him a good boxer but I'm being fair and honest and he does get tagged more thanhe should. Broner punished him in the 12th. I watched that beating again today. The old Maidana would have struggled with Broner but he destroyed him. But you cannot deny does get hurt fairly often (Khan,Ortiz,Lopez,Morales,Broner etc.)Floyd May disagrees. Yeah, maybe.
Also, I wonder how much he wants to keep fighting. He's gotta' be well set by now and judging by his wabbit hunting photo, he's not too worried about staying in shape.
Haven't heard anything about his next opponent for awhile.Comment
