I forgot it's impossible to improve in boxing. You can lose a sparring match at the age of 3 and some clown would try and use it in an argument to make his point.

His whole reputation seems to stem of late to the first Mayweather bout..A fight in which Floyd did nothing for the first 5 rounds but sit on the ropes and let Marcos swing away...

Is he? Seems he is rated just for what he is - a tough slugger, who gave arrogant Broner and Floyd hell. Which is why many of us like him.

One really bad performance in his whole career vs Devon where anybody who follows the sport will know it was not an ideal camp but still a terrible performance, close losses to Kotelnik (SD not UD, many thought he won, including Kotelnik) and Khan (won 5 or 6 rounds) and 2 losses to Floyd, first fight again close.

You seem to be hating for no reason, Maidana should be admired for his entertaining style, toughness and for the good career he has had. No one has ever said he is an ATG, no one is overrating him. If anything you are underrating him.

But Earl has been a troll for many years, he made a thread a few days back about how much he enjoyed Maidana vs Khan and wants a rematch but now is making this thread. I think he likes Maidana really, just a troll.

Mostly just Floyd fans trying to rein vision history and act like Maidana wasn't a 12 to 1 underdog.

I'm sorry, when did breaking the Broner hype train in half by knocking down a fighter with no previous knockdowns twice become meaningless? When did overcoming a big reach deficit and managing to land some brutal shots on a talented (lol) defensive fighter come to mean he is doodoo?

But even more, how on earth is having a competitive fight with Mayweather not an accomplishment?

**** y'all. Maidana has improved substantially, and if he wasn't sitting around enjoying his paydays and hunting rabbits he'd probably be knocking around many other welters.

Some guys make it to the world scene on great skill, others do it with grit and amazing toughness and tenacity.

Maidana shows up to fight every time out and he doesn't tip toe through divisions. He does not care who it is, just look at the names he's fought so far through his career, it's pretty impressive really. He did not beat all of those big names but he was there giving the fans an entertaining fight to watch each and every time out.

As far as his 'rating', like I said some get there dancing pretty and some get there clawing and scratching. Either way, Maidana has made it to the world stage and he has remained by fighting guys who are in no way hand picked. For that matter, a lot of Maidanas opponents should never have been picked. But they take the fights any way, give you 110% and put up good fights, even pulling of the upsets at times.

Ratings, what are they really. You could fall asleep watching TBE or you could watch a tough cat try to pull out another upset giving it everything that he has inside of him trying to take his opponent out.

Say what you will about the guy, he's there and he fights anybody, and everybody, while giving the fans a good show. What more could you ask for from a fighter?

Anyway, ratings are extremely overrated and are simply a tool used by the media and governing bodies to raise interest and income.

Ratings, what do they really even mean anyway?

yes he's overrated. he really hasn't beaten any top fighters. soto karass, lopez, and broner? none of those guys are even top 10 quality fighters. ortiz is his best win...ortiz.
