I think the point is to have Floyd look "exciting" by getting a KO/TKO winn so the next fight will sell.

This is the direction boxing is going, excitement over quality.

Except Pacquiao is light years better than Khan. And Algieri got robbed against Khan.

Algieri fought competitively, showed improvement, won some rounds. He didn't win though, and even a draw is a stretch.
