He left himself completely unprotected, and all he could do was hope that his conditioning could carry him through the round.



It reminds me of Judah/Garcia. Zab refused to go easy against the younger fighter, and wound up having some success at the end. Had he given up earlier in the bout, we wouldn't have gotten to see what Garcia was really made of. Collazo seemed to have given up on himself a little, and I wonder what sort of implications that will have going forward. Fighters usually beg for one more round when they're dealing with facial damage that can potentially stop the fight, but Collazo invited the stoppage in a way.

Collazo got discouraged by the movement and seemed to forget\overlook that Thurman was still vulnerable on that right side. Hindsight is that Collazo just doesn't have it anymore and isn't willing to lay it on the line when needed. Beating a severely faulty Ortiz, isn't a sign of recovery or that you're back in the game and the Khan and Thurman fight proved just that.


Collazo should have watched the Bradley\Vargus fight .....

They don't realize. Most of the children on this site come here to do nothing but argue, call names and pick on certain fighters by calling them bums. They wouldn't know how to slide there hand Into a boxing glove let alone take a liver shot. Thurman took a shot that could not have been placed any better and managed to survive. He Is a very tough guy but I still don't see how he could possibly win more than a few rounds(If that) against Mayweather.

I am sick of hearing that sheet. this is what these guys train for and their job. could Thurman walk on rafters 40 ft in the air wind blowing 20 below zero? then pull up 24' frozen 2x10's? I could because that is my job. if fighting was my job I would train to take the pain and give it out.

When you don't see that liver shot coming, it is one of the most painful things do endure. I don't think people realize how remaining on your feet after taking one of those is some bad ass shi*.

That's how I know 95% of people on here are either casuals or have never been in the ring. I'm amazed by some of the comments I've read in the last few hours.

the fact that he didn't go down from that shot is far more impressive than the beating he gave colazzo for 7.5 rounds. to me, at least.

Thurman bit down and wore that body shot like true champ....a lot of dudes would've folded from a shot like that....respect is EARNED and Thurman earned some of that by staying up and recouping the way he did

There were some earlier comments in this thread that were a little disappointing.

Thurman is a bum, Collazo is feather-fisted..... they both suck, blah, blah.

But it is great to see a lot of guys giving both fighters some respect.

That was very good punch, and Thurman handled it very well.

These are the exact tests that a young fighter needs to endure in order to develop and progress.

Its the same shot that lamont peterson sent mayweather to the hospital with. Money was in camp for the marquez fight. Peterson was already in shape and they went at it. Floyd jr needed heat and muscle stimulation after that shot.
