Ward shouldn't try anything like that, because kovalev strikes me ask the guy that doesn't put up with much in the ring, and ward might not see the 12th round.
Ward will not try anything like this simply because he will not fight Kovalev.

Are you saying this because main events might pull out of a potential purse bid? History might repeat itself again, eh?

No. I said it because Ward would probably sign with Haymon -- that's the way they all escape from fighting the best. "It's career wise, doe"...

Let me say as well that I don't think Stevenson has ever ducked Kovalev. And I too believe Stevenson would KO Kovalev. It hard to tell what happened with the whole purse bid thing, but I don't think the issue is Stevenson is avoiding Kovalev. If anything, he has fought the tougher competition.

Purse bid on a Ward fight? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

Is Ward going to work his way into mandatory position for one of Kovalev's titles? Because that would be the only possible way this would go to a purse bid.

Obviously the reason that Ward is ducking the fight hiding in the 172 lb division. "When I beat Kovalev, where do I go from there?" How about you go to lb for lb elite status..that's how all the great fighters raised their marketability...they didn't sit around fighting bums and crying about their promoters...

Stevenson definitely ducked Kovalev in 2013 when both were signed to HBO...Supreman fought a bum at the end of 2013
