The difference is Trinidad was a champion at age 20 and remained a champion for 10 straight years and over 20 successful world title fights and NO losses. Trinidad won 40 fights without a loss until Hopkins beat him. Trinidad was welterweight champion for over 6 years and 15 successful title defenses with no losses and 12 KOs wins. A prime welterweight Trinidad against a prime welterweight Cotto would be an easy KO win for Trinidad. If Cotto couldn't handle little Pacquiao's punch he sure couldn't take Trinidad's awesome power. At 154 or 160 Trinidad would also crush Cotto. Trinidad won and defended his 154 and 160 pound titles at the full weight with no catch weight games. Even in defeat Trinidad never took a backward step unlike Cotto who runs when things aren't going well. I think most Puerto Rican fans think Trinidad was better than Cotto. I can't imagine Trinidad losing to Trout, Margarito or Trout. I think Trinidad would also have defeated the Mayweather who beat Cotto. There is nothing Cotto does in the ring that Trinidad didn't do a lot better.

It wouldn't be good to see Tito getting hurt, even if a fight would solve his economic trouble. I was throwing the fight out there as an alternative to some long-running trash-talk rivalry that wouldn't ever solve itself. And half joking at that. I just don't see the point in this back-and-forth. Anyhow, Tito's a bit up there in age, and although I think Tito can get in great condition if he wants to (compared to his final fights), I don't think he's been a "B-hop" with his body, either. I agree that it's probably best if it doesn't happen. I hope the rivalry doesn't get any worse, though (if all the info we know is true).

Unnecessary shot by Cotto but he is true. Cotto is underrated as hell and if he beats Canelo he'll be up there with Trinidad and if he beats GGG too hell easily surpass him.

Tito was more likeable so people like him more. I'm not of that breed, I look at resume and what you do in the ring. I don't care if your nice or an *******, gay or straight. The difference is I'm able to only look at those things while others have to put their feelings about a fighter into account. Cotto is OBVIOUSLY a much better boxer than Canelo, I mean FFS you have to be a moron thinking otherwise.

I find a lot of Oscar's work in that fight to be overrated. His best shot was an accidental thumb to Tito's eye. Other than that, it was Tito coming forward all night looking to take Oscar's head off.
If you watch that fight with the sound off, you will see that a lot of Oscar's shots where either blocked of slipped by Tito. The rest he ate like candy because he was looking to land that KO shot while coming forward. In no way did Oscar win all of rounds 1-6. When he chose to run from 8-12... he paid the price. Tito was there to knock him out and not try to win on the cards and Oscar knew this.

My response in my original post was to what way Tito would win with all of the odds pointing in his favor from ring experience, to power, chin and of course stamina. Cotto is no DLH to keep Tito honest nor Winky to use his masterful definsive skills at close quarters. Therefore, Tito > Cotto again.
And as for your Margarito jib, Tito was even more relentless going forward than Antonio ever was with demonic punching power that Tony lacked brickless or not. So how does Cotto win again?
