Comments Thread For: Pavlik Regrets Martinez Bout: Should Have Gone To 168

Pavlik was a one dimensional fighter but boy what an awesome one dimension it was. And what most fans always seem to forget is how he actually out boxed Taylor in the rematch. They also seem to forget that the Martinez fight was even going into the 9th round. With Sergio clearly winning the first four rounds and Pavlik clearly winning five through eight. The fight drastically changed because of Pavlik's cuts when he could no longer see. With that said cuts are a part of boxing but you have to wonder how different the fight may have been if he wasn't cut. Pavlik was also the lineal Ring as well as unified Middleweight champ and in my opinion he had a pretty decent career.Comment

He did that when he was with Garcia. Cleaned up and rededicated himself, it just wasn't there. His reflexes were slower and his power didn't have the same effect on the guys at 168. Since then he's abused himself harder than ever and he's older now and been abusing himself far too long to recover to the point of prize fighting beyond a regional level. His health sounds bad. Passed out in a court room, having seizures.Comment

When he kills somebody outside a boxing ring get back to me....
Not only that, Pavlik got caught, that's not to say you or the other tool aren't also guilty of DUI and just have been lucky and not been pulled over.
Based on that, I would take Pavlik's life accomplishments as a former MW champ and a millionaire over both of yours combined ten times over.
And PS...... Take down that sick a55 picture for crying out loud. It's not a gay p@rno website. Nobody wants to see that but you.Last edited by Boxing Goat; 07-09-2015, 11:23 AM.Comment

I haven't seen him use size as an excuse for the Hopkins fight (or maybe he has and I just missed it).
During that fight there was lots of talk about his alcoholism and staph infections (my guess... boozed it up while on antibiotics and his immune system was shot).
Plus he just has a really bad straight-in-straight-out style for beating Hopkins.
He was plenty big though.Last edited by ////; 07-09-2015, 01:03 PM.Comment

Well he allegedly almost DIED from the staph infection, but that was months before the Hopkins fight..I don't think he recovered mentally from losing to someone who was considered past it, but he lost and got a boxing lesson..I haven't seen him use size as an excuse for the Hopkins fight (or maybe he has and I just missed it).
