At least ONE of these guys is willing to compromise and meet in the middle to try and work something out, and even give up a 50% split to the "B side" here (would Ward even consider something like that?).. As far as catchweights go, both are guilty to some extent but it isn't entirely unreasonable for a (pro) career 160 guy to ask a (pro) career 168 guy to meet in the middle.. better than saying "come to my weight or no fight", "my way or the highway", etc.

TBH I think Ward should be fighting at 175. His last fight was at what? 172? lol. He has claimed many times in the past that he plans to move up to LHW.. but now with Kovalev up there wrecking §hit left & right, I would probably think twice about that too.

Really a tough situation for Ward at the moment, pretty much stuck between a rock and a hard place..

GGG also needs a new promoter, K2 havent been able to land that big fight.

I also find it funny that people are citing the fact that GGG hasnt moved up in weight as a pro as the reason he has to move up for ward but ward from ams to pro has never moved in weight while GGG has.
Ward fought at his same-day weight of 173 at the Olympics, fought most of his first ten pro fights at 160, before moving up to his current standing at 168, with eyes towards moving up at least one more division at some point.

Golovkin fought his last three years as a same-day weight amateur at 165, debuted at 160, and is still at 160.

      try again.

You don't have to like what I'm saying, but that doesn't mean it isn't true.

Dunn is part of the sdf
Dunn was banned at the time Bat created the SDF thread, so no, dunn wasn't in the SDF.

When I returned, i was labeled a Haymon defender because I didn't place the blame on Al Haymon, something Rick Reeno confirmed in the article he posted about the situation.

So now the Gullible Golovkin Groupies are playing the race card?

This is too good to be true. Everything these fools have been bashing Floyd fans over the past few years they are doing right now.

I think Ward should take this fight. He's obviously ducking Kovalev, but he has a far better chance of being successful against Golovkin..... He should take the fight. But he won't.
Lmaoooo users like this should be universally ignored. Biased, ignorant bigot.

He most likely thought he would have trouble making weight, and wanted to come in as the naturally bigger guy (advantage).

Ward had no idea the guy would come in way over weight, he said as much. And the guy came in fat and flabby. Maybe he didn't train as hard knowing he didn't have to cut as much weight, I don't know. But it was clearly a cherry pick and he gets a pass cause it was a "tune up".

I just think Gennady gets unnecessary hate from fans. He wants to fight the best and fight 4 times a year. I am enjoying the run he is on and wish more fighters were like him.
Ward was out of the ring for basically a year and a half, and didn't want to even bother with the risks of having issues making weight for his tune-up; Ward was already 173 near three weeks before the fight, so concerns about possible weight issues proved to be unfounded.

At 172, Smith (looking exclusively at his weights from BoxRec) simply wouldn't have had to take his weight count down another four pounds; it's not like Paul Smith was some small super middleweight.

You'll be waiting a long time.

Hype Job aka Booty Dew was one of the Gullible Gennady Groupies who said that Ward couldn't even get down to 168 any more
