Can Al Haymon/PBC Build Up a Fighter from Scratch? [Poll]

A lot people seem to think Arum is the best at building fighters. GBP did a great job as well with Schaefer. However, a lot of people are critical of uncle Al's ability to build a star, and question his matchmaking (or his team's matchmaking) under PBC.

I know PBC has only been around a few months, but he's been involved in the business for over a decade if not two.

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to if they get more time. I definitely do think that TR is the best at that, but it'll be very interesting next year after the Olympics to see how many of those guys end up signing with Haymon, particularly with the networks being involved. If there is an American medalist, presumably NBC would love that guy to keep fighting on their network as a professional.

      Haymon hasn't done it yet.

As far as stars go, guys like Leo and abler were well on there way and Haymon held them back.

IMO haymons main goal is maximizing his own profit through his 15% manager fee, it just happens to work that a lot of fighters benefit financially off it also.

Seriously, WTF is Turman fighting Collazo for? Not one person in the entire world asked for that, but Haymon gets another 15%, so he's happy.

Thurman on HBO is a start by now IMO.

Agreed. in the past they said Haymon gives his fighters a list of people they can fight, and the fighters get to choose. Thurman said his list had only one fighter: Collazo.

I agree they totally blew it for LSC. He had a lot of steam behind him, but his last 3-4 fights have been against the local garbagemen or gardeners.

Spence, Thurman, and Wilder are on their way. Thurman v Collazo isn't going to do much for Keith but he was the headliner of the 2nd most watched fight this year.

I think they have a shot with Thurman.

Al tried to make his guys a star and Broner ruined it by losing twice. It's strange, Al has no problems taking risk outside of the ring but when it comes to his fighters he feeds them as soft as possible, no risk whatsoever.

Closest so far is Danny Garcia, and he fell off a cliff when he was on the verge. He could still recover, though.

Do you think they should have fed him to mayweather after Matthysse?

I don't think it would have hurt him. Mayweather doesn't exactly ruin careers. Garcia would have lost every round but it wouldn't have made a difference in his career.
