It's strange that they put so much into Broner, for him to now be on the outs with PBC. Apparently, they're tired of his lack of dedication and out of ring shenanigans. That what it seems its come to. Hes being mismanaged. He has the focus to compete at this level, where a lot of potential talent gets distracted and lose that focus, hes still hungry. You dont mismanage fighters who havevthat dedication. Haymon doesnt seem to have Thurman in his plans.
PBC appears to be more business minded, even though it's still not showing profits. One thing that sticks out with them compared to pretty much all other boxing promoters, is that the other promoters seem to live and breathe boxing not just as a business, but as a way of life, and profess to have love and passion for the sport. PBC does not come off like that. It doesn't seem passionate about boxing in the sense that they want to create memorible stars and events that last in the memories of the boxing fans.Comment

Last year is not a long time ago!
Maybe now Team Porter may be interested in the fight, maybe. But I doubt it's a first choice or high priority choice. If given a choice between Broner and Thurman, they were going to choose Broner. I'm not saying this is the case, but this is exactly the kinda stuff that happens behind the scenes. If Team Porter is given the choice of Khan or Thurman, who do you think gets picked? Okay, now let's say Berto or Thurman? Who gets picked? See the pattern?

Thurman's interview with 78sports said he had no problem with Team Porter's position on the fight. And the reason team Porter wanted the fight is because they wanted to be rewarded for winning which makes sense. I was using Khan as an example. No they didn't. Porter's team turned down the fight. And it has nothing to do with Khan as neither guy fought him.
I do think the fight will happen at the end of the year though. Who else is there for each guy to fight? Most of the others in the top 10 won't be available.
Broner vs. Porter was Haymon and NBC's call. They demanded a big fight at the MGM on that date. Second, Haymon is growing frustrated with Broner's diva antics and planned on matching him up tough to see if he's the real deal. If I recall, initially it was supposed to be Thurman/Porter and Broner/Barthelemy.Last year is not a long time ago!

And I'd be shocked if Porter takes a step back with a guy like Berto at this stage. And as far as Khan, I'm sure Thurman would do the same thing if he had the choice between the two.Comment

Okay, for sake of argument let's say it was Haymon/NBC's call. Team Porter would have still EASILY chose Broner instead of Thurman. It's just the more realistic choice and easier fight. Berto or Thurman? Team Porter would happily choose Berto. It's not like Thurman is way more popular than Berto. And Berto is a more winnable fight and a nice addition to the resume. Now let's say Guerrero vs. Thurman? Team Porter would happily choose Guerrero for the same reasons as they would Berto. Khan or Thurman? The obvious choice is Khan for the same reasons as the others. Okay, Garcia or Thurman? Garcia would be the likely choice. And this pattern just goes on and on.
Thurman is a low priority fight. And it's high risk without much of a difference in reward. Team Porter is not going to get a bigger purse for facing Thurman rather than those guys. And if the purse is bigger, it won't be by much. I just don't see that fight happening anytime soon. But who knows, I could be wrong. And I hope I am, I just doubt it.Comment

Thurman and Porter are good friends, Kenny Porter has been in Thurman's corner for some of his amateur fights, there's big respect between the two teams, so of course Thurman isn't going to make a big deal of it. Imagine if it was Khan who turned down a fight? Thurman would be very vocal about it.Thurman's interview with 78sports said he had no problem with Team Porter's position on the fight. Porter has faced Paulie, Brook, and Broner since the beginning of 2014 while Thurman's only notable fight during that time is Guerrero. I have a hard time believing that Thurman is a more dangerous fight than Porter...especially after Porter's win over Paulie.
I do want to see Porter and Thurman fight by the end of this year as it is one that I have looked forward to since last yearComment

the boxing skill u speak of is a joke..look at his am background..he lost to pure boxers time and time again..he's a fighter that likes exchanges with avearge foot and hand speed with great power..nothing more nothing less..lots of wide hooks not great straight punches..above average jab..his only gameplan vs ghost was go forward..he couldnt walk ghost into any shots..he has weaknesses if a fighter is complete..just look at his double feints he does with no guard up..floyd would tag him all night ignoring his feints and rolling under his returns..The guy had one fight (Bundu), where he wasn't obliterating his opponent, and people wanna say he's a bum or overrated or whatever. I thought a couple years ago that he was just a puncher with fast hands so seeing that fight, actually jmpressed me. Bundu is a good tech boxer and he was being outboxed by a Thurman who people try to downplay as just a crude ****er. Floyd threatens to take his opponents head off every fight and all you ever see from him is defence and movement with the occasional potshot and people pay money for it but don't think Thurman is worthy. The ignorance is pretty impressive. Thurman is one of the guys out there who can beat floyd if he is able to execute his plan because of his hand speed, athleticism, good movement, boxing skills and of course his power. Not to mention the guy is clearly a student of the game. Anybody with half a brain who has heard his breakdowns of fighters and styles can see that.Comment
