He was scheduled to fight Maidana on his HBO debut but Maidana pulled out and a few guys have avoided him since then. He hasn't had the best of luck tbh. I don't think Haymon is protecting him, you don't throw a 19-0 prospect in there with Maidana if you're protecting him. You don't throw him in with Diego Chaves either, not at that stage of his career.

I don't understand why they didn't make Thurman vs Porter and make Broner fight somebody else, it would've made more 'business' sense because it was very obvious Broner would lose and Thurman vs Porter would've been a better fight as well. So it's really mind boggling.

Part of it is because Porter's father is uninterested in making Thurman vs. Porter. He was on a radio show speaking about it and said for that fight to get made, they'd need to guarantee the winner fights Mayweather afterwards. Papa Porter also said that they need to keep Thurman in his own lane doing his thing and Porter on the other side doing his thing. And then later down the line they can face each other. And it would have to be for BIG money.

Not really mind boggling for me, just plain ****** on Haymons part. From the outside it looks as if Haymon doesnt really have a structured plan when it comes to matching his guys, it appears he has to reset and readjust after every dam fight. i dont wanna complain about free boxinv, but Haymon can be delivering a better product, PBC needs better ratings and its ****** that he doesnt make better fights bcuz so. Even with casuals as the target audience, the product is lacking

I thought that was last year though? I know they didn't want the fight last year but I was thinking for the right money and a big platform like PBC, they could make the fight. I still think the fight will get made this year.

They don't have history, you can stop saying that on every Thurman related thread. Spence is a prospect, once he becomes a contender and starts calling out Thurman, the fight will happen.

In fact, Thurman said if the fans really want the fight now and an offer is put on the table for him, he'd take the fight now.

That what it seems its come to. Hes being mismanaged. He has the focus to compete at this level, where a lot of potential talent gets distracted and lose that focus, hes still hungry. You dont mismanage fighters who havevthat dedication. Haymon doesnt seem to have Thurman in his plans.

Great point. Thurman's career would be better off with Top Rank, GB or fighting on HBO. For all the success Haymon has had he has yet to prove he can create superstars in boxing. All the superstars he has were developed into stars elsewhere before he got them. Top Rank, GB and HBO have all proven they know how to develop and create superstars. No doubt in my mind if he were with one of them he would of gotten better match making and would be a bigger deal then he is now.

That was a year ago and both sides agreed. It made no sense to put Thurman and Porter in a war against each other while Khan gets to coast to a Mayweather fight.

More recently team Porter said that this is the fight they want next and I know Thurman wants it too. If it doesn't happen by year end that will be a damn shame.
