This isnt a pick em fight in anyone's eyes who watched Roy in his prime. Technical boxing didn't matter then and Ill give you Floyd has it down pat. Roy broke the rules he didnt have to fight in an orthodox manner and he sure as hell wouldn't have against Floyd. Roy even at light heavy was not only faster than floyd with his hands his feet were as well as his body movement. Floyd isnt even on the same planet as far as boxing skill let alone athletic abiltity.

I see these guys fighting around 154-160 where Roy was destroying people in one shot. I dont see Roy taking Floyd out with one shot because lets face it Floyd has ATG skills but I truly believe we have never seen a better fighter and I mean ever as far as skills than Roy Jones Jr.. The ****ing guy was amazing. Floyd cant shoulder roll and pot shot a guy who is faster by hand and foot than him and who hit light a ****ing truck when he wanted to.

Like I said, he left a lot of meat on the bone. I wanted to see more from him but i can say that for just about every one of my favorite fighters. Floyd is in the same league as Roy but so is Sugar Ray Robinson. Neither of them could have landed a clean punch on Roy in his prime. I love them all just calling as i see it.

We often forget Roy went all the way to heavyweight and won a title, thats a pretty ****ing big deal. the guy was amazing in his prime, which lasted almost 15 years.

Edit: By the by my favorite fighter ever is my avatar so I know the game pretty well.

Roy Jones Jr is The Best Ever
no one could beat or even trouble the prime RJJ
given credit for the defense and chin of Floyd the fight might go the distance like Hopkins did but it would be a one-sided contest

Sorry but you're simply overrating Roy. In fantasy match ups, Roy fares pretty well against everyone, including a pound for pound match up vs Floyd. I lean slightly towards Roy in this P4P match up but it is a pick em fight. Roy is the more athletic fighter, but Floyd is the more skilled fighter by some distance in my opinion, and is also the much greater fighter, regardless of who would have beat who. Roy's technical deficiencies were exposed when he got knocked out cold due to his over reliance on reflexes. The heavyweight title he picked up is also overrated in my opinion. It's a good achievement but it's not like Ruiz was the real champ - he was slow as hell and Roy was always going to be the winner in that match unless he got knocked out. As has already been said, the Jones vs Griffin 1 shows that Roy is vulnerable. Griffin boxed on even terms with Roy until the disqualification. The rematch proved Roy's power but it didn't answer the questions about his boxing ability that the first Griffin fight created. Another fight people often bring up is the Toney fight when discussing this match up. Well, Toney was clearly dehydrated (I still rate it as a great win) and this was a perfect style match up for Roy as Toney doesn't move his feet, which Floyd did a lot of in his prime. Lets not act like Roy destroyed all the top fighters he faced. He didn't exactly wreck Hopkins or McCallum, which shows that when he comes up against decent defensive fighters (and Floyd is better than both of these) he looks less of a god than usual.

As for your first sentence, I've seen all of Floyd's and all of Roy's fights. If people don't see this as a close fight after watching Roy it's because they mostly saw him beating up the latest addition to the bum of the month club at LHW, which is unfortunately what Roy spent a massive portion of his career doing.

Never seen anything better than a prime Roy, literally used to bring tears to my eyes watching him do his thing.

I'm the biggest Roy Jones Jr fan on the planet but he mostly fought guys we were expecting him to beat. His resume kinda sucks with the exception of Bernard Hopson James Toney and I'll even throw in Montell Griffin. Harding was giving Roy Jones the business, until he blew his shoulder. Everytime we saw Jones Jr in a dogfight, he looked really bad. He either got knocked out or barely survived.
He beating John Ruiz for the heavyweight title is equivalent to Floyd Mayweather beating Carlos Baldomir, ****ty! We all should have seen that victory from a mile away. Ruiz got the title by default and was a bum. The more athletic of the two, I'll have to say Mayweather. I'll never seen him gasp for air during between like I've seen Roy Jones. These two guys are my favorite fighters. If I had to choose one, same weight class, p4p, I'm choosing Mayweather.

The world needs to stop the hate already and go with the facts...roy has losses by lesser opponents than him and ok losses...Floyd wins by unanimous decision.

Roy wins a competitive fight. There's no doubt Floyd would give him problems, what did Roy say was difficult about the first Griffin fight?

In some ways Mayweather would be looking in the mirror at a bigger version of himself. It would be a shock to the system when he realises Roy can land leaping left hooks and pull counters just as fast as he does. I wouldn't be surprised if Roy dropped him once or twice with the left hook.

Watch Jones vs Toney... People may not like this but one of the most gifted defensive fighters was James Toney. Jones punked Toney that night. I would see the same coming
