Has Golovkin refused to fight anyone at all who has proposed a contract? NO.
Has Kovalev changed division or been asked to change division for a fight by any opponent? NO.
Would Ward drop to 160 to fight Golovkin? NO.
Will he go up to 175 to fight Kovalev? If this fight was to happen, he would have to.

Is there anything about the two possible fights that are in common other than Ward being the opponent? NO, nothing at all.

And there is no reason that the 3 title LHW champion of the world, who has been an active champion willing to take on any and all challenges would be the B side to a hardly active, paper champion at 168 who has NEVER defended his title against another SMW since the Super Six tournament 4 years ago.

If Ward is smart, he will accept whatever terms are proposed which will certainly be fair, and get his ass in the ring or accept the fact that he will be fighting the Paul Smiths of the world on BET for the remainder of his career.

He will fight him in America. Anywhere but Oakland is neutral ground. But if it is in Oakland, then I am buying tickets

The purse bid was the entire reason behind convincing the WBC to let Kovalev fight for Pascal's mandatory spot. They couldn't make the fight on their own so they were going to force Stevenson into it. Purse bid or drop the title.

Kovalev didn't randomly become the WBC mandatory. Duva made that happen so that they'd have the purse bid to force Stevenson's hand. It makes no sense to walk away from it once you get what you wanted.

The proposal was made by Main Events’ Kathy Duva during the WBC annual convention last December, at a time when Kovalev was in the process of securing a showdown with leading contender and former light heavyweight king Jean Pascal. The agreement was made that the winner of their March 14 bout in Montreal would be named the mandatory challenger for Stevenson, who had a voluntary fight scheduled with Sakio Bika on April 4 in Quebec City.

Duva pushed for Kovalev to become mandatory to Stevenson, not for a purse bid. When it came time to begin negotiations for the fight, Yvon Michel refused to even begin negotiations and petitioned WBC to go directly to purse bid. He did this being well aware that Duva could not go to purse bid due to a 'right of first refusal' clause in Kovalev's expiring HBO contract as Stevenson had the same clause in his contract when it expired.

Duva thought she was smart but she was outmaneuvered and lost the game. No one is saying that Duva did not get herself into a no win situation or that her actions were well thought out. But at least get the facts straight.

After that average performance vs a d level fighter in smith,he knows he cant beat kovalev. Its why he went back to 168 .so he can stay in oakland vs bums.

CW at 172, in oakland, kovalev gets no stool between rounds, on BET not HBO, and a short 20 minute half time show after the sixth round with a performance from Memphis Bleek.
