I'll believe it when I see it, Ward hasn't fought a top opponent since 2012 (if you consider a 168 Dawson that).

By Ward's own admission he had a retirement speech ready on two occasions during his hiatus. He rejected an instant big money rematch with Froch in Nottingham, and he was recently on Teddy Atlas' radio show and said he had no interest in going over to the UK for DeGale.

Since the S6 Ward has only pursued easy targets. Pavlik, Chavez, weight-drained Dawson, Edwin Rodriguez. HBO had to push the Rodriguez fight because Ward wanted Caleb Truax or Dimitri Sartison. Most recently he inquired Cedric Agnew & Thomas Oosthuizen to come down to 168 and then settled to fight Paul Smith at 172......

RN has the financial resources to back a ppv fight with Golovkin if Ward wants a real fight. That doesn't mean they cover the expenses for the event, it means that if ppv sales fall short they pick up the difference, but they're media specialist so they should be able to promote the hell out of the fight and come out ahead. They're already losing millions on Ward, might as well make a big fight that would put him back in the spot light.

My agenda is to get Ward/Golovkin sooner than later.

there isn't anyone i would accuse ward of ducking, though. he's a bit of diva, sure, but he knows how good he is and he's willing to prove it against anyone. i think kovalev will give in to ward's demands (like location) and the fight will be made. kovalev desperately needs a quality opponent who will fight him on hbo in 2016, otherwise he will lose momentum and end up like stevenson

do you have a source for that? i assume that the reason he targeted lhws like agnew and oosthuizen was because he knew he was going to fight at 172

I see this fight eventually taking place at the full LHW limit. Unlike GG, Kovalev will fight any opponent and him and his team understand that he may have to take the B side money in order to achieve greatness. Ward's demands for the fight to take place in Oakland wouldn't be a problem either as he has shown a zeal in beating guys in their own backyards.

Other than hardcore fans, no one has a clue who Ward is. HBO is also in no hurry to deal with Ward and his diva demands.

Also, you know why Kovalev-Stevenson hasn't been made-one guy exclusively fights on HBO and the other exclusively fights on PBC (NBC, CBS, etc.)

I think Ward will fight Kovalev. It would make sense to do the fight in Atlantic City. Recently, Kovalev has built a good following there and Ward has fought there in the past. Since Ward is backed by RocNation now, they could help generate buzz in the northeast.

Well put it this way, if they wanted that fight next, Main Events would do it.

Kovalev will travel, won't demand a huge fee and will fight anywhere Ward wants.

I'm still pissed off about that. I don't want to hear anything about networks, either. Duva knew all about the networks when she pushed to force the purse bid.

Once again... DUVA DID NOT PUSH FOR A PURSE BID!!!!! Are all of you people blind? Do not know how to read? Simply ******? ******ed from birth? YVON MICHEL FROM GYM REQUESTED THE PURSE BID.
