Cornish is rubbish. Would be another early KO for Joshua. However, I can't imagine this fight to happen. Cornish has made sure never to fight a decent test in his whole career.

I would still imagine Wach or Thompson to be the opponent on Sept. 12.

        Boring.

No point treading water at domestic level against the likes of Cornish.

Hearn sounded way more enthusiastic about Tony Thompson than Cornish so fingers crossed

Seems more likely he would fight Whyte after Sept 12th than Wach.

I guess we shouldnt have got our hopes up that early about a Wach fight. Still if he fights a Wach level opponent early next year he is still doing well.

yeah, to be honest the wach rumours surprised me because it's quite a leap in class. if we get cornish, whyte and someone else around that level, joshua will have had a good 2015. then in early 2016 he should be looking at price or teper and wach. it would be a good learning experience because he'll have to throw the kitchen sink at wach and get creative in his offence, and with david price he'll have a genuine threat to fend off and we'll get to see his defensive skills

how is wach a big step up? sure he was on roids & took a 12 round beating from klitschko. Wach had beaten the same level of opponents as Joshua. He beat gavern, tye fields & Christian hammer. How is he a step up? he is big & has a good chin but was that the roids? Wach is just big & nothing more. sure Cornish is untested but I'd have no problems with Joshua taking on a few brits before moving up into contender territory. get him in there with whyte, price & chisora. if Cornish is first so be it. Chisora was fighting top guys by his 15th bought. fury his 15th, helenius his 17th, vitali 18th, haye 19th... look where chisora is now. He is a fringe contender who has seen better days. he is more of a gatekeeper now but still a good name to add. Chisora being matched hard early did make him a millionaire. Rushing Joshua is pointless. you feed him those 4 domestic fights then he will be ready for bigger fights. make the 2nd half of 2016 the date he makes his move. He needs experience. look what happened to price when he went from domestic to world class...

                My thoughts, too.

Joshua is clearly ahead of where his handlers thought he'd be 12 months ago. Wach or the like would have been a solid test - Cornish will just get blown away.

                Disappointing.

So Wach isnt a step up, but Joshua should still wait till late next year to fight him?

Two/three round knickout jobs are not teaching him anything about proffessional boxing. Wach could test his stamina, Thompson could test his intelligence, Arreola could test his defence. These are the type of fights he needs

Problem is they all want huge amounts of money to get in with Joshua "or so we are being told".

I don't really see the problem with Cornish, undefeated very tall & British "Scottish" so it will appeal to both parts of our country, basically it should do pretty reasonable numbers.

Joshua hasn't fought anyone with a winning record so far, or even anyone who actually has posed a test. Cornish may well prove a zero test again, but its certainly a step up from the likes of Johnson, Sprott, Gavern etc.

Whyte has already signed the contract as far as im aware, so that fights a guaranteed later this year.

I agree. Cornish is just a prospect as of now and he hasn't beaten any opponents of note. Joshua should be looking to fight boxers who are just below world level.

Guys who are ranked in the top 10 of at least 2/3 boxing organisations. I don't see Cornish ranked anywhere.
