not much more then kingpin. He would also get a few more training camps in no matter who he fights. Wach is a step up. maybe i was being a little harsh but having a few more domestic fights isn't going to hurt him. sure he may blow out Cornish but it still builds his name & he will go through another camp. Wach, arreola & Thompson are all good future opponents. Povetkin was matched hard early but he had 132 amateur fights. david price had 90 & he got clobbered twice & is still rebuilding his career after he got thrown into the fire in his 16th bout. Joshua had 43 amateur fights so i don't think they will rush him. they will bring him along much like they did with wilder who didn't have an extensive amateur career (35 fights). i guess wach wouldn't be too bad an opponent soon. When i think about this it is pretty shocking that hasim Rahman was a 2 time world champion with only 10 amateur bouts...So Wach isnt a step up, but Joshua should still wait till late next year to fight him?
Two/three round knickout jobs are not teaching him anything about proffessional boxing. Wach could test his stamina, Thompson could test his intelligence, Arreola could test his defence. These are the type of fights he needsComment

it Cornish who hasn't fought anybody. AJ has beat all the usual journeymen. i don't know if Cornish could beat gavern, sprott or kingpin from what i have seen. AJ\Cornish reminds me of joe hanks fighting andy ruiz. 2 undefeated HWs who hadn't beaten anyone above trialhorse level fighting it out to see who moves forward.Problem is they all want huge amounts of money to get in with Joshua "or so we are being told".
I don't really see the problem with Cornish, undefeated very tall & British "Scottish" so it will appeal to both parts of our country, basically it should do pretty reasonable numbers.
Joshua hasn't fought anyone with a winning record so far, or even anyone who actually has posed a test. Cornish may well prove a zero test again, but its certainly a step up from the likes of Johnson, Sprott, Gavern etc.
Whyte has already signed the contract as far as im aware, so that fights a guaranteed later this year.Comment

At the time Thompson had just lost to wladimir klitschko for the 2nd time. He was a top 10 heavyweight. Price had 15 pro fights. He was not ready. I called it before both losses. Thompson is still a decent fighter at 43 & in the top 20. Maloney put all his eggs in one basket before he came out in a dress. He rushed price & it backfired. There is a reason guys like wilder don't fight anyone with a pulse until they've had 20 some fights. the klitschkos didn't fight anyone until they had almost 30 fights. It's not just the fights itself but the training camps & sparring in the gym that also get them experience. Joshua looks like the real deal. A few more training camps & fights at the domestic level won't hurt him. If he beats Cornish & whyte then I don't see why he shouldn't be in line to fight the winner of Price\teper for the European title. By this time next year he should be ready for the bigger fights. It's hard to stay patient & watch a guy with his talent blow away people but they want him confident & ready. Out of all the brits dereck chisora was matched tougher then anyone. He made some money but at 31 he looks to be on the downslide. That is a guy I would target early next year if he doesn't fight price or teper. Joshua will be matched carefully & I have little doubt that his handlers didn't take notice of what happened to Price. Price was doing the exact same thing that AJ is doing now. He was blowing away domestic level opponents until he got his first test & he has been rebuilding since...Comment
