Yeah, it was a joke.
Remember this - PBF enjoys the accolades and P4P #1 respect that most give him, while downplaying his lack of belts.
As fans, is this what we want? To see PBF, or any other talented fighter, beating up on second string opponents and saying the belts don't matter? It's not like PBF is the next Ali, a crossover phenomenon. Outside of boxing, it's PBF who?
Keep ranking PBF at #1, and you'll get more of the same. Rank him outside the top 10 and he then needs to fight someone we want to watch. To be fair, it's not his fault that Zab joined the also ran list by losing to overachiever Baldomir, but this is, what, a three year run of meaningless fights for PBF?
He is wasting his talent and diminishing his legacy. P4P #1 don't mean jack in the history books. It's all about who he fights.Comment

What P4P ranking really means is that if they are in the same weight class and fought each other, who would win. I don't care who Floyd has fought in the last couple of years, all I know is that he will castrate all the other P4P fighters if they ever fight right now(provided they are in the same weight class).Last edited by SuckaPunch; 04-03-2006, 03:55 PM.Comment

Good probing article, Richard! While I don't necessarily agree with your complete synopsis, the questions you raise are legitimate, if not contrary to "The King must inherit the Throne" mentality" that boxing fans fall into all to often.
I commend you as a journalist for leaving NO stone unturned.
Props for a fearless excavation of "sacred ground".Comment

Bruseles...cmon
Mitchell had NO punch. Mitchell shouldn't even had been fightin at 147.
none of the guys i mentioned cant even be considered a megafight...are you krazy? Also, N'dou & Corley were good tough fighters but nothing extraordinary. And when he fought Gatti it was so obvious PBF was gonna win and stop Gatti. if you were truely convinced dat Gatti would win dat fight you are as gullable as a 5 year old...mega fights...i think notComment

My advice, this guy should stop writing.
Floyd is boring... what the hell is Winky?
And everyone knows Kostya was extremely inactive. Blaming Floyd for not fighting an inactive/injury proned fighter is dumb at best.
Also... one more thing. Manfredy almost had his head taken off. It wasn't a controversial stoppage. Someone please post that clip.
****** article. It would have been better if it wasn't tainted with hate.
