If they fall along the way then they get pushed aside for the next star to come through. It's the boxing way, bro. Always has been and always will be. If you think marketing a guy and carefully matching him is exclusive to HBO and Manny/Gennady/Sergey then you clearly have a very biased agenda.
You are right. The sport is this way and it has been for a while, but it doesn't have to be. I'm talking about guys being carried and the padding of records because he's 'the star' getting the special 'star' treatment, the protection. The sport has become more business than sport in my eyes. Too much greed, more greed than any other sport IMO. It's not good for the sport. Idk how or who would change it. Needs stricter regulations for a start.

Oh there's no question. I mean ****, we have guys openly saying that they won't fight certain fighters because they're too risky and aren't a big enough a draw to justify the risk. Or other guys who say they want to wait a few years to fight a certain guy so the fight can "marinate" and they can make more money off of it.

Do I like it? Nope, and I would hope that no boxing fan would. It really is business first, sport integrity a distant second. I was just pointing out to that one guy though, that the business first mentality applies to virtually every single star or star prospect the sport has to offer. They're all protected. They're all packaged as products. But he's calling out Golovkin/Kovalev/Pacquiao/HBO like they're the only ones...or the ones who started this ****, lol.

I don't follow or know much at all about the UFC (practically zero), but is it true that basically Dana White has it constructed in such a way that there's no ducking, the best fight the best and if a guy chooses not to do so then basically they just don't get paid?

Boxing is really amazing when you think about it -- I mean imagine the New England Patriots ducking the Seattle Seahawks and saying that they don't draw and aren't worth the risk, or avoiding them for 3 or 4 years as they get older and lose players and then playing them...

Manny will leave more legacy behind in an old toenail clipping than Paulie Malignaggi amassed combined in his entire 40-ish fight career.
Lmaooo dam that's brutal. Just facts though. Paulie fans should appreciate how raw that post was and how daring you are to say what everyone else is already thinking.

Seriously, Paulie was in line to fight the 116th rated welter on a Spike TV undercard before he pulled out with injury. 116...think about that for a second. That's how utterly irrelevant the dude is right now. Paulie went on for about a month gloating & bragging about Manny's loss to Floyd...meanwhile it would take Paulie literally 280 consecutive fights at his current purse rate to even get near what Manny pocketed on May 2nd

No wonder Paulie so mad, tho.

Thank God for Paulie that Danny plucked Paulie's irrelevant boxing corpse out of complete obscurity so Danny can add a semblance of a name to his resume without so much as a risk of even getting a single scratch, smh.

That's unfair because you are comparing apples and oranges. It's incomparable to team based sports. You'd have to start with tennis to begin comparisons, and tennis is more tournament based. And it's just a lot less physical versus boxing.

A lot of guys won't last long facing their equals all the time. And even in team based sports, they don't face their equals all the time. And a loss during the season isn't the same as a loss during the playoffs. Losing a single game can't make or break your career/season either. Just crazy to compare the two.

Paulie i will say this, some fighters are special everyone can not do what great athletes can do.....but Manny is to blame for making a big deal about drug testing to begin with
