Oh goodness. As intellectually superior as you Brits claim to be you sure do know how to play the naive idiot role. Nottingham is Carl Froch's hometown where everyone loves him and will be cheering for him. His mother and wife will be shouting instructions to the referee and not being told to shut up. Andre Ward fought Froch in Atlantic City which is over a thousand miles away from Oakland and it definitely makes a difference. All he said is he won't fight in Froch's hometown but he will fight in his country. That is fair. And if you can't see that you must be wearing a blindfold.

And why wouldn't that happen in London? Carl Froch is arguably the most famous boxer in the UK. Unlike Ward in the US, he has fans all over the UK who will travel and cheer for him anywhere. He fought in front of 80k in London, not Nottingham. Are they not going to allow his family in the arena if its in somewhere other than Nottingham?

They will remember him; he's known to casuals. The guy filled the UK's largest stadium, FFS!

No one cares about Ward. He's a talent, sure, but it says something, really, that he's had to give away tickets for tomorrow's fight...in his hometown

i think that's definitely part of it. he appears to feel that a robbery is less likely in london than in nottingham.

the risk of robbery is obviously there in either city. i don't think it's completely off base to assume there's a greater risk for robbery in the city where froch lives.

i also think he sees more dollar signs in a fight at wembley, and is more willing to risk a robbery if the money is there. i think that's the important part in his mind.

I see more pound signs in my father's bank account but I don't realistically have a chance of being handed it any time soon unlike some.

froch, for some reason, wants the fight in nottingham. part of that reasoning surely is having the advantage of fighting at home.

i'm not going to pretend to understand british boxing economics to the degree that i can say with certainty what the purses would look like at either venue.


ward's not a knockout puncher. he's got a robbable style. there's certainly a risk for robbery. he saw the dirrell fight. you've got to be biased if you don't think that's a legitimate concern.



and finally, some o you need to look at a map of america. atlantic city is several thousand miles from oakland california. it's a six hour flight. it's not all that much further from oakland than it is from london.

What "principle"? There is no principle. Ward is deluded enough to think he can fight at Wembley so he's clearly deluded enough to think that London is going to make some huge difference. Or he's just blowing hot air about coming at all.
