You're absolutely right. Wilder's team shunned any meaningful challenges during his run up to the title shot and now they're trying to make up for lost time. However, it looks like they're gonna "have it both ways" as he'll probably fight in September and then negotiate with Povetkin in October.

I wonder if Povetkin will stay busy as well?

Another tune up, staying active before a big fight which has yet to be negotiated. I see no issue with that.

Don't you get it? Wilder was the one who requested to delay negotiations, not povetkin. This sounds very much like other all haymon fighters like Danny Garcia who just want to hold the belt hostage and fight a bunch of tomato cans. Even the ped accusations is exactly what haymon fighters do to a tee. Wilder is scared

Your kidding right? Why not negotiate right now with povetkin for the September date instead of getting an exemption?

Sounds to me as if Wilder`s team tries to avoid Povetkin as long as possible....

This is like when a Presidential candidate's rep's come out with a strategic statement to push things in a certain direction.

Instead of downright saying that they're ducking, they're using the "we're gonna stay busy" routine because who could possibly criticize that. If Povetkin is eager for this fight (unlike the one with Wlad), then they should push for a mandatory fight ASAP. Take these guys to a publicity war.

Wilder is the safest black man ever to reside in Alabama.

Negotiations shouldn't take 6 months to a year unless one side doesn't want it.

Though that mindset would explain why Haymon always makes fights at least a year after everyone wants it.

He needs a tune up for negotiations?

What's next a tune up before the contract signing?

There is no avoidning, Povetkin is the mando and it is up to the sanctioning body to enforce it
