GGG haters crying these recent comments weren't really coming from Golovkin. This wasn't Golovkin's first response to Ward. He had some strong words for Andre nearly 2 years ago that seemed to shut Ward up for a time.

"One thing that you see is, he hasn't had a reason to be concerned with defense. Everybody gets hit, but he is hittable". Ward said in the aftermath of Golovkin's knockout victory over Matthew Macklin last month.
    Golovkin's response:
I do not know from where they get that I pay a little attention to the defence (surprised)? Just as Macklin, who said that I had no experience, I'm neglecting the defense. I heard that. I'll say that I was more experienced in my 20 years in comparison with their 30ies in pro fighting! This is nothing more than self-deception. If somewhere in the fight I neglect defense, it does not mean that I'm not being defensive. Quite possibly I just provoke. I look. This is the tactics! If I ignored the defense, it would have been fractures, cuts, knockdowns, knockouts. I've never been knocked out or knocked down! And it does not say about the strength of my head, it's boxing on highly technical level. What can I say to Ward? I'm the strongest and the best? This is a direct move immediately towards our fight. I believe that every athlete has a chance, but to say it would be bad against a puncher ... it would be bad against any of boxers. Now it became popular to say that I have no defence or that I don't box, just fight. My answer to them: "You'd better teach your wives".

WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24KOs) gave a response to come of the recent comments that were made by WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs). The possibility of a Ward-Golovkin match is gaining speed with the fans. Ward questioned Golovkin's defensive skills . "One thing that you see is, he hasn't had a reason to be concerned with defense. Everybody gets hit, but he is hittable," Ward said in the aftermath of Golovkin's knockout victory over Matthew Macklin last month.

Saw a link somewhere in this thread for a Russian article containing that interview. Google translate was pretty wack but it looked similar to what BoxingScene provided as a translation. Also had a Russian friend translate some of it and appears to be in line with that translation.

Frankly I don't yet have reason to doubt it's authenticity. For one it's a language that is native to GGG. But you also have to factor in that he was likely not in the United States when he said it. I imagine that if I were being interviewed in a foreign country about a fighter from that country, I might be naturally less inclined to openly criticize them. *shrug* Not totally sure that's in play here, but it could be.

Anyway, GGG took a dump on Ward which now means that 1) Ward needs to respond and 2) this fight needs to happen. If Ward decides that he can still make 168, I say 2016 is a good year for GGG/Ward. Gives Ward a chance to make another tune up @ 168.

EDIT: Of course this depends a lot on what happens with Cotto/Canelo, but I am hoping that GGG/Ward can happen eventually as long as Ward doesn't move up to LHW.

Because he does not actively follow the sport and had not followed it hardly at all for a number of years and is not American and had never heard of Andre Ward. You Americans really have to understand that the rest of the world does not focus on the US or it's athletes. It is a big world and the US is only one part of it. You also need to realize that not everyone is like people who post on these boards and aware of who every fighter is and their entire history. I have friends who are baseball nuts who could quote stats to you from the past 50 years of the game without blinking an eye but could not name one fighter of the last dozen years.

Take off the tunnel vision glasses.

And for GGG to try to talk down on on Ward's competition is laughable when Paul Smith and Edwin Rodriguez are better than GGG's top 5 opponents to date. Its also sad because Golovkin's fan base actually believe than his comp warrants top 5 P4P consideration.
GGG should fight mental ward at 160 then mental ward would know how dawson felt

That's why fighters like GGG and Kovalev are so great. They're humble, but if you shit talk them then you're pretty much dead. Great stuff.

Maybe you need to go to TMZ where that story originated and watch the video and see that GGG did not call out Floyd nor did he make the statement they posted as the title of the story. Typical TMZ 'journalism'.

Floyd Mayweather has just been called out by the most dangerous boxer in the world ... Gennady Golovkin ... who says he's 100% confident he would crush Money ... if they ever got in the ring.

GGG will be the best fighter Ward has stepped in the ring with. Ward's best win is Froch who refuses to fight Golovkin.

Ward needs GGG because he is an after thought in boxing. He is fighting a nobody on BET because HBO (the network he works for) won't put on that trash fight. And no one will watch because Porter Bronner is a better night on NBC lol.

I hope it happens and I have GGG winning by stoppage.
