Golovkin Responds To Ward Over Recent Comments

By Luke Furman

WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24KOs) gave a response to come of the recent comments that were made by WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs).  The possibility of a Ward-Golovkin match is gaining speed with the fans. Ward questioned Golovkin's defensive skills .

"One thing that you see is, he hasn't had a reason to be concerned with defense. Everybody gets hit, but he is hittable," Ward said in the aftermath of Golovkin's knockout victory over Matthew Macklin last month.

Golovkin says Ward is making comments to build up a potential future fight between the two of them.

"I don't know where they're getting it from that I pay little attention to my defense. It's just like Macklin, who said that I didn't have enough experience and that I didn't have a defense. I've heard it all before. Let me put it to you this way - I have 20 years worth of experience. This is nothing more than self-deception. If I really neglected my defense, I would have been hurt, broken down, knocked down or knocked out. I have never been knocked down or knocked out. What can I say about Ward? This [statement he made] is a direct step toward our battle," Golovkin said.

[QUOTE=Light_Speed;13552342]Come on, stop hating. If Ward was feather fisted he wouldn't have TKO'd Dawson, drained or not. Home advantage doesn't mean ****, Ward dominates worldclass fighters, he's one of the two or three best fighters on the planet. Put down…
