Wilder is waiting for Klitschko to get old.
Wladimir will turn 40 in March of 2016 - beating him after that won't mean as much. Wilder himself said Wlad showed his age against Jennings.
Wilder should try to fight him THIS YEAR or early 2016 at the latest. The longer he waits, the less credit he'll receive if he wins.Comment

Yeah but it's kind of like Floyd. Who else would there be to fight? No one wants to see Wlad-Povetkin II. Joshua is still too green. They would just be lame fights that no one would care about. He should retire after Fury and Wilder..Comment

Oh no, I completely agree with you! I'm just not sure Wlad is ready to give it up. I hope he goes out on top with a couple more fights, I don't want to have to see a washed up version of him. Theoretically though, if he beats Fury and did beat Wilder to unify the belts, Joshua and Parker could be knocking on the door by then.Comment

Deontay's planning to fight another poor opponent on September 26.
Wlad would prefer to fight Wilder instead of Fury, but Deontay doesn't want it until the real champion gets OLDER.Comment

Why do people keep saying this? Just cause quillin dropped his belt.. There's no chance wilder drops the beltComment

I think if/when Wlad gets a shot to unify the belts, that should be his last fight. If Wilder gets past Povetkin (big if), and Wlad gets past Fury (not assured either but I like his chances), then Wlad/Wilder is a good last fight. Retire as the first undisputed heavyweight champ in over a decade.
But idk, while he didn't look his best against Jennings, he still has yet to be made to look his age. Who knows, maybe Wlad will still be able to hold onto his dominant position in his 40s.Last edited by BrometheusBob.; 06-15-2015, 11:55 AM.Comment
