That's not too bad of an idea. Get one more bout in and then take on Povetkin in his toughest test yet.

just drop the belt and get ready for the PBC belt, and fight more opponents like eric molina.

and you can still call him the heavyweight champion of the world

Put the fight on at Barclays Center in the US (New York is arguably the world's biggest media market, New York has a fair share of Russo-American communities in the region, and Barclays Center seems to be the biggest ticket selling venue run by PBC), co-ordinate the TV for the late afternoon (fight airing 12pm PST/3pm EST allows the fight to also air 10pm in Moscow/St. Petersburg; Wilder is likely to fight on only CBS/Showtime), and maximize the scale/scope of the Povetkin fight.

No idea what he does in September
I'm impressed by Wilder's team. They see and recognize flaws in their fighter and will try to correct them by fighting any voluntary defense in September before facing Povetkin late 2015/early 2016.

I've give this some thought and I'm pretty sure Wilder will face Arreola in September. Arreola is fighting in July on a PBC undercard and depending on how he does, he'll probably get the title shot. Arreola has looked like crap in his last couple of fights; he's not in good shape and he gets hit a lot; that's a perfect opponent for Deontay Wilder.

how does he have a glass chin? has he been knocked out?. I think you dont know what "glass chin" means. It means you get knocked out by the first good punch that lands.

And shannon briggs is an old clown on steroids making instagram videos because he is irrelevant in the heavyweight division

Wilder ought to beat Briggs. But if there's one thing that Briggs still has left, it's power. I truly feel if Briggs landed a good shot, it's goodnight Wilder. At the very least, the pre-fight antics would be fun. Regardless, I don't think Wilder can beat Povetkin.

Wilder's team have had 7 years and 34 fights to identify and correct his flaws. But all they did was feed him one easy opponent after another, apparently more concerned about keeeping the KO streak going than allowing him to learn and develop as a fighter.

Imo, he has been badly mishandled.

Wilder's and Povetkin's teams are supposed to be negotiating by October so I don't expect Wilder-Povetkin until mid to late 2016.

Wilder will likely face Arreola, Thompson, or some other over-the-hill/never-will-be Heavyweight

Wilder will fight the weakest available WBC-ranked opponent.

He'll milk that WBC title for as long as he can.

The reason why their looking for a 9/26 return is: Wilder is still a work in process and is not entirely ready for Povetkin. If they can get another good training camp in and another fight, that only prepares him for the tough Russian.

I think they'll select Thompson, Lucas Browne, Chris Arreola or Mark De Mori
All are beatable and are only marginally tougher than Molina. To be honest I'm not even sure De Mori is tougher than Molina as he has a bad stoppage loss to a journeyman on his record and has never beaten anybody of note.
