The WBC ordering negotiations for October is a blessing for him. He could use more work before facing Povetkin.

Wilder fights at the end of September, before clashing against Povetkin the Saturday after Christmas.

Put the fight on at Barclays Center in the US (New York is arguably the world's biggest media market, New York has a fair share of Russo-American communities in the region, and Barclays Center seems to be the biggest ticket selling venue run by PBC), co-ordinate the TV for the late afternoon (fight airing 12pm PST/3pm EST allows the fight to also air 10pm in Moscow/St. Petersburg; Wilder is likely to fight on only CBS/Showtime), and maximize the scale/scope of the Povetkin fight.

No idea what he does in September

I think he'll fight Szpilka next, the winner of Cunningham-Tarver in December, then Povetkin in 2016.

They way Wilder's people are talking, they're almost saying without saying that he's not ready for Povetkin next. Which is understandable since he holds a belt and hasn't fought a lot of top level opposition, but damn--if you want to have the belt, then fight the best. Enough of these guys cruising fighting #10 contenders all the time. That's why the heavyweight division can't be restored to it's "greatness".

One more fight before Povetkin is ordered is WISE! He needs it and it should be vs at least a Top 10 Heavyweight. Would love to see Tony Thompson test him, we seen what he did to David Price twice so even though he is 43, a in shape well prepared Thompson is Dangerous

Artur Szpilka or Amir Monsour wouldn't be bad either! No More #44 Ranked Heavyweights!

He has his flaws but people say they want entertainment and excitements and knockouts, well Wilder fights are never boring not a fan of unskilled wild fighting but I thought this is what fans wanted? The same people who call other fighters boring for being too skilled are the first to complaining about Wilder Flaws

Time is running near, though. September fight, Povetkin to close out the year, and then the big unification fight with Klitschko-Fury winner (likely in May during Kentucky Derby weekend).

Wilder is good enough that he can compete with any heavyweight on the planet; Team Wilder simply wants that extra camp to take the result and make it more definitive in Wilder's favor.

I have to be honest, I would thoroughly love this to be Wilder-Briggs in the Barclays Center, just for the craziness that Shannon would bring and the slight chance that Briggs smashes those glass shards in Wilder's chin all over Brooklyn.
