  • Comments Thread For: Joe Calzaghe: I Would Have Demolished Carl Froch!

The pride of Wales, Joe Calzaghe, is still very confident that he would beaten down Carl Froch many years ago. The two fighters often exchanged words when Froch was coming up in the ranks and first capture the WBC super middleweight title six years ago. At the time Calzaghe had already moved up to the light heavyweight division and was chasing fights in America, with Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr.

Recently Calzaghe and Froch renewed their domestic rivalry, as they traded words on the social networks. Calzaghe has been retired for since 2009 and has no plans to return for Froch, who himself is on the edge of announcing his retirement.

You refused to fight him, that remains the fact.

    I disagree anyway.

Joe would never have fought Kovalev.

I believe Calzhage's hand speed and punch volume would have brought him a decision over Froch, but demolish him?? No way.

Joey would have won a UD over Froch, he beat Kessler before him and also had a solid chin with a very high punch output.

              Beaten? Most likely.

Demolished? Well, we'll never know. Considering what we know the chances are Calzaghe breaks his hand on Froch's face while earning an unanimous points decision.

Who are the good fighters Joe made "look ordinary"?
There's Kessler I guess, but Jeff Lacy was garbage and RJJ and Hopkins were ancient. And I thought Hopkins beat him anyway. Eubank was way past his prime too. I would pick Joe to beat Froch as I agree that he would have been too fast and too skilled, but when you look at their records Froch's is far superior. He has fought top 10 fighters one after another. Joe fought mostly has-beens and never-were's and wouldn't leave Wales for most of his career.
Put Joe up against a prime RJJ and Andre Ward and I very much doubt he would be undefeated.

When would he have done this? When Froch was still green? Or would he dare to come out of retirement and try now? He should just stop talking. Never gonna happen so we will never know. He also said he would have beaten Ward. Sure...

                    Prime Roy would demolish him.

Hopkins did win, all Joe did was piddy pat him the whole fight.
