They were totally unaware of his existence until he started fighting in the US a couple of years ago. In that short period of time, he has gone from the small room at MSG to selling out StubHub to the point where they had to add extra seating twice to go well beyond their normal capacity. He came within less than 100 tickets of selling out the LA Forum in his most recent fight against Monroe! Not against an A list fighter, but MONROE!

Find me another American fighter with the same following after only 2 years. You would be lucky to find an American fighter with 5 years experience with that fan base.
does it have to be an american??
    how about Irish man canelo...
he was big in mexico since a teenager, but when oscar brought him to the us it became huge...

And how long has he been fighting in the US? A hell of a lot longer than two years. He also has a built in fan base, something GGG is completely lacking. Want to do a census on the number of Kazakhs in the US compared to Mexicans or Puerto Ricans? There are probably more Puerto Ricans in NY City or Mexicans in California than Kazakhs in the entire world!

Why dont you stop being such an excuse-making fanboy ?

You obviously need a hero in your life.

You used to do that rubbish with Pac, now you have moved on to Golovkin.
If Golovkin is such hype, why do you want a light heavy weight to fight him? Why can't any of the other guys do it? Should be easy since hes "Hypekin" and all.

        • Lmao at all the Floyd fan boys mad as hell that people were suggesting GGG and now they want to ride Andres **** even though 2 months ago they were probably ****ting on him.

I get it though. Andre Ward gets a free pass for not fighting Kovalev or Stephenson after he cleaned out 168 yet GGG is expected to move up and fight him instead of waiting for the Cotto-Canelo winner.....

Hmmmm....decisions....decisions....fight Ward who has no name value, has fought in years, and most likely in his hometown. Or wait for the Cotto-Canelo winner for a Undisputed Middleweight Championship showdown where whether either guy wins GGG would be fighting some body with name value for big money....

Seriously Floyd fans, what would Floyd do in GGGs shoes? Exactly....

Yeah, from a $ perspective winner of Cotto/Canelo vs GGG will be big. Froch/GGG would sell out Wembly so that's a pretty good chunk of $ as well.

Right now Ward is taking a comeback fight @ 12 lbs above middleweight, plus it's gonna be on BET. I'd say this isn't exactly a prime moment for that fight. Of course I'd be excited if they announced it anyway, aka for me whenver it does happen if ever is great, but from GGG's perspective it might not be very attractive right now.

            • What a jealous f.ck. he wants everyone to move up or move down to fight him. Why won't you move up one time to fight Kovalev and get your ass kicked, Wardie? No, it's better to fight Abraham's leftovers

                You are confused.

If GGG wants to stay at MW because of all the positives you just named, he can just say so and advise his team to STFU about fighting anyone above 160... until he is actually willing to do so!

Until then he is just talking **** and deserves to be called out for it.

he didnt became popular yesterday, oscar brought him to the us in 2010, 2 years later he was fighting fuccin josesito lopez on a sold out mgm the same night chevezjr was fighting maravilla... so after 2 years of campaigning in the us canelo was already bigger than ggg and he was only like 21yo..
and just cuz you are mexican doesnt mean a fan base will follow you...

They will go to 168 for a big fight when they get(u ready for this?) AN OFFER!
GGG got a contract from TopRank to fight Chavez Jr and he signed it and sent it back.
Did Ward do anything for the last 19 months besides talk ****? He sure as hell wasn't in the gym.

Well that's not quite fair. True enough Alvarez hit the ground running with his popularity in the US, but his circumstances were far different from Golovkin.

First off he made his US tv debut on the Mayweather/Mosely undercard vs Cotto's brother. Then he had Oscar sharing the spotlight with him. Additionally he had been on Mexican tv for years at that point growing a strong fan base. Even before he fought Lopez, he fought on the Mayweather/Cotto undercard vs Shane Mosely.
