What's your point? He was campaigning at MW before he fought Golovkin and he was coming off a win over Sebastian Heiland at 160. It was his 1st defense of the WBA Fedecentro middleweight title. Get off it. It was a stay busy fight in Panama, off tv, with no money behind it. Golovkin was JWW when he was 19, does that make you feel better?
As for the 166lbs catch weights with Rodriguez & Oosthuizen, as I stated Rodriguez just fought his last two fights 166lbs and Oothuizen was a year removed from 160lbs. Golovkin was hardly weight draining those guys. Keep choking.
Oh, additionally Golovkin offered to fight Gabe Rosado at 158lbs. How cowardly of Golovkin to offer a CW.Comment

Ward's first fight in 19 months is a catchweight tune up vs another(low level) SMW.
Virgil Hunter said they are looking at 2 or 3 tune ups before fighting anybody, he also said GGG isn't a tune up fight.
David Itskowich said that the timing is NOT right for GGG vs Ward right now.
This is explained to you people in every thread.

A win over Ward would only impress serious boxing fans. Everyone else would be watching the highlights on Sportcenter the next day asking "who the hell is Andre Ward? and why does he clinch so often?" Gennady would NOT become an instant PPV star by beating a guy no one outside of the boxing community has heard of. He WOULD become an instant PPV star by beating Cotto or Canelo.
Floyd's wins over Corrales and Castillo were great, but they didn't make him a star. That really boring fight with Oscar made him a star. Why? Was it because DLH was top 3 p4p or some kind of KO monster? No. It was because Oscar was known by casual fans. People that didn't even watch boxing knew who De La Hoya was. Not to mention that a lot of Floyd's popularity comes from people hating him. Rigo beat Donaire (a popular fighter) fairly easily and made him look like a chump, and what did it get him? Nothing, because while they both have a style that may be hard for casual fans to enjoy, Rigo is not entertaining outside of the ring like Floyd.
But just so I'm clear, I would love for this fight to happen. When Ward gets his tuneups out of the way (and hopefully looks good doing it), there is no reason why this fight shouldn't happen. However, I would like it to be after Gennady has made a permanent move to 168.Last edited by Contra; 06-13-2015, 06:11 PM.Comment

If you GGG fans want to make it all about "market value" then I accept it and concede that there are bigger money fights out there for Golovkin than Andre Ward.
But if this is your logic then you can never, ever again complain about Cotto choosing to fight Canelo instead of GGG. There is more money for Miguel if he fights Alvarez so he is perfectly in the right to take that road.
So no more b*tching about that, please. You can't have it both ways.Comment

As the winner of the Super Six and Olympic Gold medalist, Ward has more right to talk than anyone between 160lbs and 175lbs. Because I can't think of anyone within that range that can equal Ward's accomplishments.
In spite of Ward's contractual disputes that kept him sidelined, he is still the current Lineal/WBA(Super) super-middleweight champion, and former WBC super-middleweight champion.
Someone show me another between 160lbs and 175lbs that has those accomplishments.Comment
