Mathyese will be fighting for a title that he already fought for and got his a*s kicked. And you guys are celebrating it like the guy just won the lotery. Meanwhile you are dissing Danny Garcias every move. The guy beat Mathysese and Kahn in impresive fashion. The fights he is fighting now are put together by PBC match makers he has to do what Haymon orders. The only boxer in Haymon's stable that can do as he please is Floyd.
There was no ass kicking in that fight, Danny won a hard-fought and highly competitive fight. People might be excited about this since Garcia hasn't even been able to defend his title due to weight issues since March of last year in the epic "I'm coming home" fight.

Haymon's fighter might all be puppets but plenty of fighters under his stable have busted the myth that they have no say in who they face.

But did anyone read the last two paragraphs? the WBC is going make Garcia champion emeritus while UCLA assesses what division he can fight in

This raises the question, is Garcia-Malignaggi going to be another catchweight fight?

He's not bad, a Garcia fight would've been an easier mission but he took that step-aside money so it's on him.
this, he is in martinez situation when the wbc gave jr the regular belt. still, if lucas/postol gets made and lucas wins garcia won't fight him, lucas is still with gbp and you know they won't work with them.

He made a few TV apperances (an interview and a a sort of a stand up comedy performance) before the Macklin fight that made him very popular among casual fans. Then he went to the argentine version of "dancing with the stars" before the Chaves fight. By that time he was already super popular here. Martinez was very smart with the media and knew how to get the attention of people who wasn't into boxing.
not to mention that this show is the most popular in the whole country, even the politicians go there before elections and make fool of themselves just to gather some more votes.

it would be like americans walking around saying theyre german/Swedish/irish/italian

It's official that Danny Garcia is fighting August 1st, at Barclays Center, on ESPN.

You can't point to a single article anywhere where they've said that the opponent will be Paulie Malignaggi.

If you've seen that anywhere, I'd like to know.

            • Malinaggi is bad move stylistically, for Danny. He wont be able to bust him up, but make him look bad all night. Another close and hotly contested gift for swift.

agreed, malignaggi is like herrera 2.0 with better footwork, only problem is he's way past it

                • Swagf@gs never left the summer of '13. They're delusions keep them from aknowledging the Herrera loss, Ron Seltzer fiasco, and the near loss to Peterson.

                  • Average Danny was managed well

Astute management of Danny Garcia kept the marginally talented Garcia undefeated and in control as a champion earning nice money. Danny Garcia fought and kept his title belt at 140lbs and defended it without losing and that is what a champion is supposed to do-Keep the title for as long as possible regardless of the opposition and the level of the opponents. That is the Fact of Boxing. Danny is not that good but is managed very well.
