Who in the world thinks Canelo is fast? Seriously what boxing do you guys watch, he isn't fast at all. He throws good combination but fast... please, he isn't fast at all. He looks foolish again for 8 to 9 rounds, wins 2 maybe 3 and will get credit for 5. He's losing either way, he doesn't have the style to beat Cotto. A flat footed counter puncher has never beat Cotto. It's guys who are much bigger (Trout) and/or box from the outside (Floyd) or guys who throw 100 punches a round and don't stop coming. They're no faster than Cotto's or anyone Cotto hasn't faced before. Manny, Floyd, Shane, Judah all had faster hand speed. Add to that all he stands still and throws punches, once Cotto gets the timing down, which he always does, it's a wrap.

Cotto was in a car accident when he was young and he f8cked up his right arm. Thats why hes a southpaw thats fights orthodox and also explains his power left hooks and strong jab

Yeah although apparently he had surgery on it a couple of years ago. He still depends a lot on his left because those are his money punches.

I give the edge to Cotto also. It would be a true fight of a young, hungry opponent vs the old warrior.

Cotto still has it all I feel. His power is there, improved speed, and the experience from fighting everyone on the block.
Alvarez on the other hand has all similar qualities minus the experience and he has the youth in his advantage.

The fight kind of breaks even almost in my eyes but I'd give Cotto the slight favor in that he can have a better gameplan with Roach by his side and lately his footwork has improved a lot. He made Geale go down just by side stepping him and throwing Geale off balance. There have been lots of subtle but substantial improvements in Cotto's game.

Don't think this is a Kirkland repeat because Cotto is far from Kirkland. Cotto would of KO'd Kirkland if they had fought. Maybe not in similar fashion but he would of gotten a stoppage. Heck, the way his left hook has been landing, he could of decapitated Kirkland the way Kirkland is so open for it.

I'm pulling for Cotto but favor Canelo slightly. A lot of people are talking about whether Cotto can stand up to Canelo's punches, but I'm equally interested in whether Canelo can stand up to Cotto's. Has Canelo faced anyone as precise and powerful as Cotto? I give the durability edge to Canelo, but perhaps that's only because he hasn't faced competition quite as dangerous as Cotto's.

Agreed. Cotto's left is probably better than Alvarez' right or left individually but he hasn't much going on with the right at all. I see Canelo's speed troubling Cotto early though.

Cotto did drop Geale with a right hand to end the fight, for what it's worth. Roach has sharpened his technique and that includes use of his right hand. His right hand to the body in the fight was just as thudding as his left hook to the body.

His right was also pretty damn sneaky against Martinez, even if not on par with his left.
