Commercially, I don't see that beating up Lara, Angulo and Trout really does that much for Golovkin. Canelo was pretty much a star before he fought anyone that good.

Just to be clear though, I'd like to see Golovkin-Lara but I suspect Al Haymon is not quite so keen, HBO certainly aren't.

No matter who you are fighting that's still a big achievement. He was fighting men before he could even grow bum fluff.
I hear you, but Kell Brook has been a professional since he was 18, it doesn't make his record any better.

Canelo has only been fighting live bodies for 2 years. His reputation owes as much to geography and ginger hair as anything on his record.
Although it would probably never happen because Cotto wants only big money fights or safety tomato fights , I'd be willing to bet u points that Lara would beat Cotto .

Lara is willing to fight ANYBODY from 154-160 and is willing to PROVE it...can't knock him at all....WAR LARA!!

GGG CLAIMED he was willing to fight ANYBODY from 154-168....but when Ward's name comes up it's not enough bread in the basket

Lara calls out Floyd and he's EVERYBODY's sweetheart....he calls out GGG and he's EVERYBODY's villain

GGG supporters will accept the Monroe's and Adama's of the sport as a opponent and justify those choices by saying NOBODY want to fight him...but there's a PROVEN SOLID slickster named Lara who's been calling GGG out for quite some time now but is being ignored for whatever reason

can somebody with a GGG uniform on help me understand this sh't because it's quite confusing!!...Lara vs GGG can happen....it's the biggest name AVAILABLE atm for GGG...correct me if I'm wrong

He has never seperated himself in a big fight to the point where you can say he clearly won the fight. Not sure in what universe Lara can outpoint Floyd.

GGG just flat out kills him.
He separated himself from Trout more than Canelo did. Canelo is the one who hasn't separated himself in any big fight.

            Carl Froch.

            Here, you've been corrected.

If GGG does fight Lara, the anti-GGG fans will just claim, "GGG fought a blown up jr middleweight".

Let's be real, who here honestly believes Lara stands a chance?

I want Golovkin to fight either:
              Andy Lee
              Hassan N'Dam
              Saunders
              ....Eubank Jr.

Cotto/Canelo/Froch/Quillin are no-go's (well, Froch is most likely a no-go anyways).

If Golovkin can't get any of those fights above, then I would be okay with Lara since there's just about no other decent fight.

Cotto's throwing bombs right now, and he's pretty decent at cutting distance. I'd take that bet but unfortunately it's not a fight we're going to see.

But, what's the reason for this fight getting no noise from the GGG camp?

I get it, Haymon may not want it, though I sincerely doubt that he has much investment in Lara to care if he losses; this is a win win scenario for him.

Is it HBO? They're putting GGG with anyone, I don't see why HBO would be oppose to adding a good name to GGG's resume.

So, what's the reason again? I've come around. GGG has no decent options, this is as good as it gets to start building something. Lara fought Canelo, that gave him a solid name
Hbo might be opposed since they have a terrible relationship with Haymon, havent featured a Haymon fighter in over 1.5yrs, and theres dozens of Haymon fighters they like better than anti Gatti list champ Lara.

Not anyone, they turned down Mora and Lara is not approved by them either (as per Loeffler).

I think under Hershman they're against showing fighters who aren't entertaining.

They should change their stance on Lara as a Golovkin opponent imo, a Heiland or Johnson fight is not going to have a positive reaction.
