That is a good mindset to have. Whether I believe it or not is another issue but his team is saying the right things.

Holding all of the belts has benefited Wlad tremendously. On the other hand, not having all of the belts has destroyed Rigo's career.

People say belts are meaningless but they are bargaining chips to land fights and stay active. If GGG can somehow become undisputed champion, nobody in the division can claim to be even a title holder without going through him.

For a 33 year old taking the long road is ill advised, but by that token the short road to the top seems unavailable.

Picking a belt out of the trash can does little for him (other than cost him money) and he still has a ton of work to do that he would not have to do if he trashed Cotto.

Unifying the whole division will help but that is a while off and having two belts is not all that different than having one to most fans especially if he is getting it mailed to him.

I don't think it will happen anyway because all those guys are HBO and HBO will want the belt on the line for Cotto-Canelo, if Golovkin doesn't play ball his status with HBO comes into question (he will be "difficult" to work with). They won't just ditch him considering the work they have put in but Golovkin also isn't under contract forever if they continue to play him like this.
