So far, both fighters refuse to sign such a document. The reason they refuse is that it would be legally binding, beyond any penalty or regulation of the WBC. If the winner was to refuse to fight GGG, he would then have the option of going to court and getting an injunction preventing the winner from fighting against ANY other opponent in ANY weight class.

The WBC expected Cotto to fight Canelo as his voluntary back in May, with the winner fighting GGG as the mandatory. When that fight fell apart, so did the WBC's plans. Cotto really messed things up by delaying his voluntary so long and proposing so many terrible opponents that HBO decided enough was enough and they needed a guarantee of a Canelo fight before they would accept any of Cotto's choices.

Now we are at the point where WBC is discovering that Golovkin is not a man to mess with and that he intends to hold them to their word. He is the mandatory defense and will force the issue if necessary. WBC is now stuck in a situation they never expected and they have to find a way out of it. Unfortunately for them, no one seems to be cooperating. The next few weeks should be interesting.

LOL.... still not tired of regurgitating your hope that GGG runs schit I see. The WBC would allow the match regardless and GGG will file a complaint which will be handled in arbitration, he will get money and an apology. This aint the WBC's first rodeo. And as you constantly forget HBO will tell GGG and his representation what to do next, step aside son. Remember HBO already refused to air one of GGG's cab driver fights.

So Yes I do believe they are desperate for the belt more so because its in the hands of Cotto. As I asked before, If GGG was offered bouts with both Mayweather and Cotto, the Mayweather fight would be at 154, and the Cotto fight would be for the WBC Middleweight belt, which fight would GGG choose? I'll give you a hint, he aint chasing the middleweight belt on that one.
Golovkin is not the mandatory defense for the WBO title and he does not hold the WBO Interim title making him the mandatory defense. He is not listed on the WBO website as the MANDATORY challenger as he is on the WBC site in a number of different places. Your argument does not hold water.

And can people stop bringing Mayweather into every ****ing discussion? You think Cotto would fight Canelo if Floyd called? Or Canelo would fight Cotto? Give us all a break. When it comes to that kind of money, a once in a lifetime payday, yes, ANY FIGHTER would drop any other pending fight to accept it.

The 147 belt has always been the big money belt along with heavy weight not 160lb belt

LOL, nobody is talking about him being a mandatory to the WBO. He said he wants to unify the Middleweight titles which includes the WBO title. And he was chasing Martinez and Cotto before he was even the mandatory so what are you talking about?

And dont be a ****ing idiot and read the question, it points out that GGG is after money and name more than he is after the title. Of course Cotto would take the fight but he is not the one running around saying he is chasing titles to unify.

To be honest, I dont care..... he should fight Golovkin for that belt if GGG is the current holder.

If Golovkin is elevated, as suggested above, then yea the title is obviously meaningless..... especially if Team Golovkin continue defending against less-than-stellar competition.
GGG will be elevated to full WBC titlist, however the lineage will be vacant until the #1 and #2 face off

Who's talking about money? And your wrong anyway. The Heavyweight belt is traditionally the money making belt until De La Hoya and Mayweather came along.

I dont think anybody is saying GGG wouldnt fight Lee, I believe the point is GGG is focusing more on the WBC belt because of who has it.

Instead of marginalizing GGG's achievements , just admit your a Cotto fan and your scared to death for Cotto to fight him so instead u gotta keep up this act that he isn't qualified
My favorite excuse of theirs is that Cotto is so accomplished that he shouldnt have to face top guys anymore, even as Champ

GGG is focusing on the WBC title because he is the mandatory opponent, holds the WBC interim title belt and should be getting the next title fight. He has also been heavily promoted by WBC for almost the past year. Neither the WBA nor IBF rank competing champions or push for unification fights. The WBC currently does.

Lee has a mandatory against Saunders, and is currently recuperating from injury, and the IBF title is still without a champion until Lemieux and N'Dam fight for it. So neither Lee nor the IBF champion will be available before Cotto will be.

THAT is why he is focusing on the WBC title. People should try actually thinking for a change instead of simply looking at the situation through their favorite fighter tinted glasses.
