GGG is focusing on the WBC title because he is the mandatory opponent, holds the WBC interim title belt and should be getting the next title fight. He has also been heavily promoted by WBC for almost the past year. Neither the WBA nor IBF rank competing champions or push for unification fights. The WBC currently does.

Lee has a mandatory against Saunders, and is currently recuperating from injury, and the IBF title is still without a champion until Lemieux and N'Dam fight for it. So neither Lee nor the IBF champion will be available before Cotto will be.

THAT is why he is focusing on the WBC title. People should try actually thinking for a change instead of simply looking at the situation through their favorite fighter tinted glasses.

Both the IBF and WBO allow fighters to unify titles, they dont allow them to hold titles in different divisions, divisions as in weights. The belt is just the convenient excuse. Truth is GGG has been pushing for a fight with cotto, and mayweather, for a while now. GGG acknowledges cotto is a great fighter, and wants the challenge against a marquee name.

Will laugh if cotto just gives up the belt, and forces ggg's stans to continue making excuses on why he's facing/chasing guys that are smaller than him.

Then again, I'll laugh even harder when cotto boxes circles around golovkin and his bandwagon comes to a sudden halt.

Getting the title is nice but it is not the main reason they are pushing for the fight... they are pushing for the fight because that is the biggest money for Triple G and he feels that with his size and punching power he can blast Cotto out of the ring. I am honestly thinking that both Canelo and Cotto are not a good match for Triple G who gets hit a hell of a lot and sometimes gets hit when he is off balance and has yet to face a real puncher himself. Is Triple G good, yes has he been really tested? Hell no!
He has yet to face a real puncher with good boxing, which both Canelo and Cotto are. Any combination of those fighters meeting is good for boxing. Triple G against Canelo, Canelo against Cotto, Cotto vs Triple G all good DUD proof fights because you know someone is going to hit the canvas. And although most won't even consider it, it you study the fighters the styles and que quality Golovkin could be on the receiving end of a vicious left hook of either Canelo and Cotto and take himself a little nap.

The WBC title is a joke though. Makes no sense to me anymore. Cotto isn't a MW, he's bastardized the title, after Martinez turned it into crud in the first place.

I'll lose respect if GGG's team takes a payoff and lets Cotto off the hook. Cotto is due for another whoopin.
