Fighters accepting the fact that they cant continue fighting - a cowardly move?

why is it that when a fighter decides he doesnt want to take any more punishment, fans/audience label them as a coward or a quitter?

I never do like n the case of willie Monroe, he was finished. However, what geale did was not the same. He decided to bail on the fight and collect his pay. Very poor effort.

He was getting whooped. How would you like to get dropped by a blistering left hook?

It's different, Geale wasn't taking a sustained beating and this is actually the second time he's done this.

That usually comes from people who've never actually taken punches before.

I might joke around and say they quit when busting a fanboy's balls, but I don't have an issue with it. They're the ones out there getting hurt.

the moment that first left hook to the body landed, the thought of quitting probably entered his mind

A fan calling a fighter a coward for not continuing is laughable. You can't see through his eyes, feel if his legs are under him, know if he has concussion symptoms, etc.

He just got blasted with a clean left hook and dropped again with a temple shot. It just wasn't his night.

Some fighters know their limits, they know when they are done. It might look different to the outside world but when you are in there it is totally different. Some fighters look like they can continue but that's just us looking at the way they are.

Then don't be a boxer. Getting hit is part of the deal and why they get paid so well. After the first knockdown he decided that the next clean punch would be his last. His effort was pathetic.
