C'mon - don't stretch and DO try to stay on top of boxing news. Just 2 days ago Loeffler mentioned Lee and the IBF belts. Lee has a mandatory with BJS so he has to fight someone before Golovkin. With the IBF Lemieux and N'Jam have to fight before Golovkin gets a turn - I am sure GGG will call out the winners of both those fights - again Loeffler mentioned Lee on Saturday. Over the years dozens of fighters have moved up or down to pick up an additional belt of for more money. Prime recent case Floyd sitting on those damn super welter belts. PAC too. GGG can attempt that too.
You want to defend Cotto by making out GGG is only after money. I say he can attempt to do both especially when he is as active as he is, now those once a year duckers, that's another thing altogether.

What's this **** about a weak division of smaller fighters. Now you're talking b*ll*cks. The division isn't the strongest - most people admit that - but smaller fighters? GTFOH!
Clowns........

As for Canelo, if he is smaller it is marginal, Canelo comes in at 170 on fight night and Golovkin at 172/3. It's just that Canelo is still very young and can cut better.

It would be Golovkins best win.
I dont buy the " everyone is ducking me " excuse, that is bullshht.
Golovkin called out everyone from 154-168, now we can see that was hype.
Golovkins best win is Geale, despite fighting at MW for 9 years.
Cotto equaled that win, after fighting at MW for 5 minutes.
Haven't you been around too long to fall for marketing hype like that ?
Surely Golovkin could have crafted a better resume to date, he is clearly very well-managed, and is clearly not moving very fast.
BTW, I like Cotto, but he is nowhere near my favorite fighter, and I dont get "invested" like others do on this site..... I definitely agree that Cotto should fight at 160 or drop the belt..... but he is a legend, so he can fight whoever he likes..... Canelo is obviously next.
The lineal " title "is rubbish..... the lineal "champ" is just the man who beat the man, and nothing more..... the last 5x CONSECUTIVE lineal middleweight champions were NOT the best fighters at 160 when they were ranked.
There is no "obligation", with "lineal"..... you made that shht up
Who, in your opinion, is currently the best light-heavy?
Come on man, you have been around too long to get hung-up on worthless accolades..... maybe it was relevant once, but not now.
Actually, it was not even relevant back in the old days, we did not have a lineal champ, because we had a real champ..... the additional ABC organisations created "lineal"..... I dont take any of that shht seriously because I know who the best fighter is/are in each division.
The WBC title should be more relevant, than a passing of the torch lineage..... but the WBC dont rank Klitschko in their top-10 at heavyweight..... so why should I take them, or any of those asshat organisations seriously?
I know whats up, I dont need them muddying the waters within boxing for a sanctioning fee.
You are an insider, so there are legal/professional issues for you to consider..... I am an ex-fighter/fan, I dont give a fcuk about a worthless ABC body who cares more about sanctioning fees than they do about the fighters.
I do know the difference between reality and hype, and I know how hard it is to market a fighter. Ideally, you like to do that in the ring. But if you cant get the correct matchups, then you have to try and use the press to your advantage. People can talk all they want, but ultimately you cannot put a gun to cotto/canelo/martinez/sturm/quillin/froch/chavez head and force them to fight. You can only fight the opponents that agree to face you.
As for how GGG is being moved, I think his time with Saurland was a complete waste. Since he has been with K2 things are moving MUCH faster, but he has some catching up to do. Cotto has been on premium tv for the past decade, and GGG for only the last 2 years, but they are selling similar numbers of tickets, so GGG has been making good progress. The next hurdle though is to test GGG on ppv and see if people will buy him......
I think Kovalev is currently the best at 175Last edited by OnePunch; 06-08-2015, 04:36 PM.

So yes, it's perfectly fine and possible to want to unify and also want bigger names/more money. In fact, that's what every fighter should be doing. Golovkin has made it clear unifying 160 is important to him, not sure why you wouldn't believe him.

Kids act as if Cotto should fight on their schedule as per their terms. We get it...They like to clap and order PPV, it gives them something to live for but, this is also a business and Cotto has been in this game long enough to know how to best pursue his money. Canelo is next and GGG is definitely on the plate. Anybody pretending that Cotto is scared is just talkin shyt at this point.
Patience silly little peasants. This is not a video game...

But this claim of wanting to "unify" when the belt holder is a 153lb 34 year old Cotto, is just not gonna cut it.
