And why should Cotto stay quiet when the press are the ones who ask him the same questions over and over again?
Then based on his comment, he's a huge hypocrite. How are you still defending him?

He should stay quiet because he's making himself look like a damn fool. Kind of like you do every time you own yourself.

So his resume is made of mostly of those three fights?

Here I had previously posted on another thread my breakdown of Cotto's resume and notable fights:

Plasterito- enough said. His trainer admitted to using inserts like the ones they found on previous fights. Both got suspended and their licenses revoked

Pac- Possible PEDs.. who knows. Cotto also didn't have anybody in the corner and that Cotto hasn't made 145 since he first came up to welterweight (oh he made 146 before... keep thinking that one lb south doesnt make a difference, but either way cotto accepted the fight)

floyd- floyd still says it was his toughest fight. I gave cotto 4 rounds in that one fight. I personally didn't like that the ref let floyd hold Cotto's arm for more than 10 seconds at one point in the fight. Other than that there's really no shame in losing to floyd.

Trout- Trout did his thing. IMO, Cotto probably thought he was "easy work" as some people would say it, mix that with cotto trying to outbox an obvious larger and more rangier fighter spelled disaster for that particular fight.

Now lets look at some of his wins:

justin jukko- TKO'd jukko who was 36-6 and cotto only had 9 pro fights.

Cezar Bazan- TKO'd bazan who had a record of 39-5 & cotto only had 13 pro fights

Victoriano Sosa- TKO'd sosa who had a record of 37-3 & cotto only had 18 pro fights (also came 3 fights after floyd outpointed sosa)

Lovemore Ndou- Decisioned Ndou who had a record of 38-6 & cotto had a record of 19 pro fights

Ricardo Torres- undefeated power puncher. (great fight btw)

Gianluca branco- Cotto 1st and only fighter to stop branco who had a record of 36-1 & cotto had a record of 25-0

Paul Malignaggi- we know who he is... no power but can outbox fighters

Carlos Quintana- TKO Quintana (who later beat paul williams 2 fights later)

Zab Judah- Crushed judah (it was judah's 2nd fight after he fought floyd)

Shane Mosley- Beat mosley (brush will deny this lol)

Joshua Clottey- beat clottey (I had the fight 114-113 for cotto, brush will deny and give the 1st round 10-8 to clottey even tho cotto got the knockdown)

Margarito 2- No plasters, punches didn't have the same effect. **** plasterito and his supporters.

Martinez- His knee doe, 50% martinez too much doe. Excuses, martinez never faced a fighter like Cotto and got thrashed.

I'm a former Cotto fanatic but dude has become a bit of a diva lately. Kind of sad to see how fighters start to decline the up and coming big ****ers and attempt to be dismissive or belittle their careers thus far.

All that matters is Canelo came to fight Cotto twice

And twice Cotto has been the reason this fight didn't happen!
            It's as simple as that.

You've got the excuses in hand, I'm not trying to convince you. But remember Cotto a Rican turned down Canelo a Mexican when it was the biggest fight Cotto could of made each time. The boxing community are laughing at him and he's shaming his nation. Fact.

You better delete your account if he doesn't fight Canelo or GGG next.
They are not excuses. Those are FACTS and that's what happened.

You just don't wanna see it with your blinders on.

oh look an ALT telling someone to delete their accounts lol

Seriously. There was probably nobody that was a bigger fan of Cotto them me just a few years ago. Now I can't stand him. He has done so much damage to his name and reputation the last few years. He needs to just vacate the belt or retire... save your dignity. The few die hard fans he has left are working overtime trying to defend this joker and are making themselves look pathetic in the process. Cotto doesn't have the hunger he once did and all this talking and ducking fights is out of self preservation. GGG and Canelo will beat his face to a bloody pulp and end his career and all this talk and excuses for why he has been avoiding those fights is just spin from a scared man.

How exactly is he a "hypocrite"?

He stated that if you put all three of their resume's together. His shits all over theirs. That's a fact. It does.

Basically he's saying that he's paid his dues, fought the best out there, and aint no up and comer gonna get there and tell him what to do.

but ya read what ya want to read.

Cotto is actually knocking his own fight right now with that statement.

I agree that he needs to fight GGG after Canelo to maximize profits though. The fight will simply not mean as much without the lineal middle weight championship at stake.

Hopefully just hyping the Canelo fight.

That's the one that needs to happen and there is nothing in the way, unless Miguel doesn't want to fight him.
