Beating a guy his own size whos on a hot streak like Canelo or Lemiuex would be "validation".

Moving up and beating Ward would be more than validation, it would make Golovkin the best boxer in the world.

As far as Cotto, probably all he's interested in is keeping that paper title long enough to hand it to Floyd for 50 million dollars.

It is clearly obvious that Cotto is not a genuine middleweight, and not Golovkins "own size".

So, because of the importance of fairness GGG cannot fight a larger opponent, despite his trainer saying "anyone from 154-168"...... and yet with Cotto, close enough is ok, right ?

* Cotto is not a genuine MW, but he will fight there if suitable (Geale)
* Golovkin is not a genuine SMW, but he will fight there is suitable (Froch)

* Cotto will fight Canelo, and lesser opponents, but not Golovkin
* Golovkin will fight Froch, and lesser opponents, but not Ward

It is exactly the same situation, except that Cotto is a proven veteran, and Golovkin is not.

maybe GGG should follow the "cotto blueprint" and go get a title at 168 and then fight Ward at 164 since "ggg small super middleweight doe".

Oh wait, to follow the cotto blueprint would not be to fight Froch,Ward, Dirrell, etc at all, but instead to fight someone like Stiglitz or Sturm at 162

What puzzles me is WHO is keeping GGG and Canelo from fighting one another? I keep hearing about both GGG and Mr. 155 are struggling for "class A " opponents... What gives. Does GGG not have Canelo's contact info? Oh wait, that's right... Nelo is NOT a MW doe.



Also, if according to Team Peasant, Cotto is EASY for both GGG and Mr. 155, how are we then claiming that somehow Cotto is the guy they need to get their overdue props?

Somebody didn't read my post properly before they responded. I said Ward needs Golovkin more than Golovkin needs him. You get a zero for the day. Damn near nobody wants to fight GGG because he's a beast. If you want to try to twist that around to make it seem like He's ducking, put together a list of the many big names who are calling him out. I dare you.

Golovkin is the number one MW contender. Cotto is the WBC MW champion. Why the hell wouldn't they fight?? Last time I checked, this was a competitive sport.

Golovkin, is affectionately known as " hypekin ", for the following reason.....

That's hard to accomplish. There's probably less than 10 fighters in history who started at 154 or 160 who even got two-three titles in three divisions.

Golovkin is already 32 which makes it tougher. James Toney was the last guy to ever start at 154 or 160 in his career and get three titles.

Nobody sees Golovkin beating Toney prime for prime either.

On Friday, a poster stated that Golovkin was better than Hagler/Monzon, and that he was sick and tired of hearing those names mentioned.

Two people agreed, and I think I was the only one who disagreed/laughed.

I hold Toney in higher regard than most people seem to, I think he was a great fighter..... if Golovkin gets even close to Toney I will be impressed, but lets be honest here..... I can see that Golovkin is not the same calibre of fighter as Toney, I dont need to wait for his career to play out.

Agreed. They will stoop to anything to see Cotto fall. From Plaster wraps to pretending Cotto is a legit MW. Give it time and they will be talking Cotto VS Kovalev.

This is not my argument but Ward called him years ago and Lara called him out recently.

GGG is a hard puncher for sure, but he is not this beast that he is made out to be. Kind of remind me of Lucas before he fought and lost to Danny Garcia.
