  • Wondering how bad ggg really wants to fight him now?

    Comment

    • Cotto has reached boss status, hes had a long career of wars. He's calling shots now, he earned that right. Whoever don't like it just whoop him and take his belt, dont cry. Mayweather did everything Oscar demanded because he had no choice, but he still won. Geale should see that as motivation.

Cotto earned the right and paid his dues to dictate terms how he sees fit. He's the number 3-4 $ guy in the sport it's just the way it is.

They only see what they want to see.

A smaller guy is already at a disadvantage... What they want is for not only Geale to have the height reach and weight on Cotto, they also hope the arena collapses and kills Cotto. This is not about the integrity of the belts etc... This is the petty peasant politics of bitter envy.

No. I think very few people will hate on Cotto if he says/admits that he's not a MW and drops the belt. Than he can fight at catchweights all he wants.

You are absolutely right. Cotto is #4 behind Mayweather, Pacquaio and Klithscko as far as revenue generated and he has paid his dues and earned his right to dictate terms.

What people on this site who DKSAB don't realize is that all boxers at that level act like divas and make outrageous demands. Mayweather does it. Klithscko does it. Pacquaio does it. Oscar did it. Tyson did it. Holyfield did it. Even Roy Jones did it. The only person who has gotten any criticism for it has been Mayweather.

Now, Cotto is starting to get some criticism because Golovkin and Alvarez worshippers on this site think he will get KO'd by Golovkin or Alvarez (who they mistakenly believe has enough clout and generates enough revenue to dictate terms to Cotto) if Cotto gets in the ring with them and they think Cotto is avoiding him. These are the same know-nothings who thought that Pacquaio would KO Mayweather. and that Matthysse would KO Garcia.

Careful, the Cottoids will go on a warpath. HA!
Actually, that's what any logically thinking fight fan should wonder.

Yeah, well if Geale comes in not a catchweight watch what happens.

Didn't take long for a classic example:

Follow his rules or go fight someone else for way less money.

I think CW's have been around way before Cotto. Nobody cried about King CW Pacquiao when he did it.

                • Catch-weight fights are OK if they are not for a title fight, if it is a title fight it should be at that title weight limit, i.e. middleweight 160 lbs, plain and simple and if you do not like it then fight at junior middleweight.

??? I'm not sure I understand what you mean by that. I'm saying this in a general sense. When a fighter who is "A - Side" (I'm not a fan of that crap btw because it gives one fighter an unfair advantage over the other and creates an uneven playing field) makes rediculous demands to the other fighter, because he has such a huge ego he thinks everyone owes him the world and believes himself to be so great, the other fighter has two options. He can agree to the ****** diva demands that put him in a position to lose, or he can say "fu** off" and then he doesn't get the fight. Sign the contract or don't take the fight. That's just how the game is now and I say it's BS. Doesn't have to be that way and IMO, makes boxing less enjoyable and turns fans of the sport into former fans. Cotto and fighters like him need to stop this non sense. If they were really as great as they claim to be and as fans claim them to be, they wouldn't need to do these things.

                    • Dictate terms as he sees fit ???? Why not make Geale come in lighter than Cotto himself, Cotto make him weigh in at 152 to 154 so you can be bigger and stronger than a weight drained Geale, 160 lbs does not mean anything. (sarcasm)
