You should never fight at a catchweight against a fighter who is in the same weight division as yourself, its ludicrous.

With so many weight divisions these days you shouldnt even need catchweights or it should only be used if fighters are from different weight divisions.

Cotto is a great fighter but he hasnt been doing himself any favours lately, so many people are changing their perception of him.

Then why fight as a middleweight against middleweights for the lineal middleweight championship of the world?

He is the current lineal middleweight champion. He just beat the old lineal middleweight champion and he is now fighting a former middleweight champion for the middleweight title.

Explain how he is not a middleweight?

I said haggler won the fight but he lost the war. I bet you were 5 years old at that time
Actually, Ray took the fight because he was at the fight and saw that Hagler had slowed just that little bit, didn't have the same speed or reflexes, and Mugabi was having success outboxing Hagler, even with his limited skills.

It had nothing to do with the beating he took and everything to do with Ray recognising that he might be able to beat Hagler with the perfect game plan because he was slowing down and losing his speed.

Not that it changes anything. Ray hadn't fought in five years and that was his first fight as a middleweight against not just the undisputed, lineal middleweight champion, but one of the greatest middleweights that ever lived who hadn't lost a fight in over a decade and had ever lost a title fight. Epic win. One of the greatest, bar none, in the history of the sport.

Exactly the scenario that would complete the circle of mockery & boolshet...the "middleweight champion" (should he defeat Geale this Saturday) who appears to Be Very Afraid of defending his belt at the actual weight, will next go for his "revenge" ...since the 1st fight was SOOO close (sarcasm for the slow ones) against the self proclaimed "TBE"..who will proceed to "box" (read: run and hold) while pot-shotting Cotto...make him do another guaguanco again in the 11th (or 12th, I forget and don't feel like looking that sh¡t up) like the 1st fight, and then will ride into the sunset as the "lineal, true ...(cough, cough!) Middleweight champion of the world" (fought at 156.3 by the way, because if Cofto thinks he's the A side, that makes Mayweather the A++ side) .....and after all, it's all about "legacy and making history", right?....oh and let's not forget about "health and family"....

And in case you didn't have enough fire in your belly for Geale to pull off an upset...here you go. Let's hope the WBC grows a pair and forces some hands to sign contracts they clearly don't want to sign.

I was always a fan of Cotto but damn...with his recent Diva-attitude hes ruining his Status as a tough fighter and a hard working honest man. Hes acting more and more like Mayweather and i hate that attitude! Please stop this catchweight-nonsense!
I hope GGG vs. Cotto gets made and Cotto gets KTFO!

I've never been a ride or die fan for any fighter, but I'm so ashamed that I used to think Cotto was one of the good guys who represented what boxing was about.

Cotto is the kinda or b!tch that makes you wear a rubber for a few years and then gets on the pill and ****s everyone.
