Lets face it, even Robert Guerrero was a showcase fight for Thurman. The guy had fought once in two years and took heavy punishment against some Jap bum. He's no better than Rios and Brook would take that fight next, no problem.

Haymon is showcasing him to make him into a big name. And Hearn is doing the same with Brook. They've already discussed the fight and it will be need to be big if it's to happen.

Brook will take the flak because he's not American and has a promoter that actually talks. Thurman flaps his gums a lot but we all know he does what Uncle Al says.

I think Dirk is right, if one guy is going to get a showcase fight then it isn't hard to understand why Brook is doing the same thing.

I just think its an absolute disgrace that a guy like Rios, who is 2-1 at WW, one win being Alvarado who never fought at WW, is getting his 2nd title shot when more established ww's that have more quality wins than Rios can't get a shot.

Timothy Bradley is fighting Jessie Vargas for the WBO Welterweight Championship.

How many good wins does Jessie Vargas have at 147? Oh yeah....he's never even fought there

Better question - how many legit wins does he even have at 140?

          American doe.

You all want Brook to fight Thurman next right, so why did he book a fight with Collazo in July?
because Thurman and brook are frauds and scared of each other. I hope Rios puts brook in a coma

No. They want to maximise the earnings from a potential fight so they're building towards it. Simple business. Neither is scared of each other.

don't you understand they are not fighters but think they are businessmen and will take no risks. big money destroys all sports and everything else including the churches

Rios is 2-2 in his last 4 fights and all though he looks like a fighter it looks more like the fight is gone.
He did nothing against Manny, really didn't try and fighting a far gone Alverez
                    has little meaning.
Rios needs to be on a good show in a non title 10 rounder in with lil" Rocky and see if he could come up with a solid performance. Theres no way he beats any of the top ten welters, he brings no power and what little skills he has are missing these days.

Brook will look to bring in soft touches so that his folks can feast for a while on their home town boy. Why not fight Thurman or Bradley, a live body!

Rios is known enough and limited enough to be a perfect fight to showcase the special one.
