It was around the time Ward had just beaten Rodriguez and the press started asking him about Golovkin. Golovkin's people wanted some kind of parity with Ward even though he was clearly the bigger name at the time. Now maybe it needs PPV because Golovkin's name has grown.

Are you trying to do a comparison between GGG and Froch? Froch made £9million sterling for his last fight. GGG just cracked his first million dollars.

They are in two completely different leagues when it comes to who can demand what.

I don't remember that. I remember the "financial sense" talk was really recent.

I don't think Golovkin's people are going to look to Ward unless they have literally no other worthwhile options, so it really doesn't matter who says what. Actions speak louder than words.

The reason a Ward - GGG fight would have to be PPV is because that would be the only possible way to afford the purses being demanded. There is no way that it would fit into HBO's normal boxing budget.

I am not trying to make any comparisons between Froch and GGG. I am simply stating a fact. Froch wants to fight in the US and he wants to be on PPV. Unfortunately for him, he is not a PPV draw in the US and neither is GGG at this time. This is why he was previously aiming for a Chavez Jr. fight as I believe HBO was willing to make that a PPV event. Froch has an overinflated sense of self worth when it comes to his value in the US sports market. He may well be a superstar in the UK but in the US more people would pay to see Justin Bieber fight Orlando Bloom.

I wouldn't, when you're getting $1.5m to fight Monroe, you'd surely want more money stepping up a weight class to fight Froch. If things go badly, it could be your last.

My point is that it would have if GGG had been willing to take the shorter end of the money the way Kovalev did against Hopkins. His team weren't willing to do that.

Incorrect. He just wants Golovkin to bring something to the table from the US market. At this point, Carl Froch is bringing all the money from the UK and Golovkin isn't bringing very much of anything....so why should he fight him?

He could fight DeGale or someone else and make similar money. Or just retire.

But isn't GGG being ducked by everyone? I mean all I ever see him and his people do is talk about money. Lara is about money, Ward is about money, now Froch will also be only if he gets more money than he did vs Monroe? The Chavez Jr fight GGG wanted was solely for money. He wants Canelo and Cotto not because they are the best P4P fighters or the best MW's, but because of money. He wants Mayweather, not for the challenge, but because of money. If you agree with this, and let's stop painting GGG as a guy who would actually fight anyone and just can't get fights because he is feared.

it's not just about fattening his wallet, it's about building his market value so that certain fighters (cough miguel cotto) will actually consider getting in the ring with him. if he fights froch and wins, his market value will increase and an andre ward fight could then potentially be put on pay-per-view

                  "Blowhards"
It wasn't GGG speaking; it was Abel Sanchez; however, it was Froch speaking about being interested in fighting GGG, and that is a significant difference. Also, for the record - if Ward and GGG ever fight, my feeling is that GGG stops Ward. Ward simply won't be able to survive the punishment that GGG dishes out.

This is what I always find to be contradicting when it comes to the Golovkin sycophants.

Be fair. It's hardly unique to Golovkin fans.
