Then he gets rewarded by the wbc with a title shot. Then he comes in out of shape and should have won easily but didn't. Now he is getting another reward for being a lazy bum instead of the great fighter that he is. They should make Toney fight his way back to teach him to do things the right way, by earning it.
makes people think that boxing is a joke by seeing people like toney fight...

Too many people were caught up crying about Toney's weight to notice that there was a pretty exciting fight going on.
i didint tihnk it was exciting, the best punch of the fight was rahmans right hand in the 1st round that hurt toney...

I can see why Rahman would want to avenge his loss to Maskaev, but objectivly from a rankings stand point, that was Seven years ago (1999). By that logic people could say Charrles Shufford or Etienne (I know he's in jail) deserve a crack at Brewster.
If we go by that logic. Ruiz is a former champ, schooled Rahman not that long ago, is back in the picture and is yet another fighter to beat Rahman, which Rahman has just overlooked getting revenge on.

Usually I'd like to see a draw settled, but not in this case. Toney should come up with a stellar performance against a top twenty HW to get near a shot again.

Unification all the way, or give one of the prospects a go at the title. BTW, what did Toney do to get the mandatory shot in the first place! Beat Ruiz illegally? beat little Dominic Guinn?

King is gonna make Ray Austin fight the winner of Byrd/Wlad??? This is getting ridiculous. And by the way, the reason everyone is getting these undeserved title shots is called CORRUPTION. You think boxing's a legitimate sport???

He is riding a ten fight win streak, most of them nobodies, but still ten fights, undefeated for over 3 years and holds a KO win over the reigning champ. I also remember when they were making a big deal over David Defiagbon, and Oleg upset him to stop his undefeated streak. The guy deserves a shot more than Toney, who only had 4 heavyweight fights in 3 years, one ending in a no contest, one over Rydell Booker who was terrible, and an old Evander. How does beating Guinn, who was 1-1-2 coming into their fight, land Toney a title shot? It's politics all around.

Briggs deserves it as much or more tham Maskaev and Toney.

How exactly? His winning streak is pathetic when you think about it. You dont get fights because of numbers! He's gotta meet and defeat a worthy opponent before he can be thought of as a contender!
