No more people have become interested in the sport because of it. The fight itself some say ****** and was boring but it brought interest back that has stayed.
Mentality after the schooling has changed and now fans are no longer looking to see best v best but are looking for KO's. Just look at the rush and hype given to Canelo, GGG, and Gonzales. All big wins by KO but all in huge mismatches, Gonzales less but still mismatch. This will be the new era in this sport. Back to mismatches but exciting KO's.Comment

Yeah it's funny how they're acting like this is the peak p@ctard fl*mo war era of 2009 and Floyd shut them all up, it all came to a halt in 2012. And Floyd barely beat a shot Pac, they just want him to get the W under any circumstances.Real boxing fans agree with you HAtton, the entire event was sour, even going into the fight many people said it was 5 years too late that Pac was washed up and done.
The only ones who don't agree with you and loved this were Floyd fanboys who are not real boxing fans.
The fight was weak, boring, and a let down.
But yes Floyd deserves the full blame, he had Pacquiao to take out, Floyd had to outperform Marquez to get credit, he didn't, his father yelled at him saying you fighting scared, this fight was about Floyds legacy he had to show to the world he was the best and its not about sqweaking a victory out, but by dominating and he failed to dominate, in fact the hardest shots were landed by Pacquiao the punches he did land flush hurt Floyd.
Even in 2011 Floyd fanboy Doctor_Tenma said Pacquiao was on the decline and done
Manny's time could be a lot closer than we think by Doctor_Tenma

It only hurt boxing if you let it hurt boxing.
Everyone says Pac fights for his country, yet no Americans are willing to get behind Floyd? (weather he's a woman beater, or they just genuinely hate him, whatever)
But you all have the best P4P fighter in the world on your doorstep, and when he beats the guy that everyone said can beat him, instead of supporting your fellow American, you all make excuses for how he won, and then claim that the fight hurt boxing.
You can't have it both ways.Comment

Criminal??? Wow. Talk about disingenuous. So creating a web of lies as an excuse for underperforming in the most expensive fight in history is an honourable thing to do?Mayweather is the perfect criminal.
Goes and steals all this money out of the sport and not providing the entertainment aspect of the service we paid for, then actually has brainwashed people support him for this. Amazing guy.
He single handily ruined boxing IMO. People say, oh no, he lifted the sport, put it on the map, in what way? In that people turn on boxing to watch other fighters now that actually fight? Or that duck, dodge, slip, and move away? That's why Lara is so popular and Rigo is in demand on HBO right? lol
Having desperately trying to back up a false claim of victory because your fake personal slipped and you revealed yourself to be a poor loser? That is good for boxing?
You need to fall back with expectations and demands. For every Mayweather there are dozens, no hundreds of Meldrick Taylor who fought how the bloodthirsty wanted. Who cares about them? You? How much do you donate to those that end up with nothing or can't speak right after a career taking punches? Oh, I know. It was their choice. Well it's yours to watch or not so don't blame a fighter for satisfying your thirst for violence and making it in the most brutal of sports. When you do more than watch it or write (complain) about it, come back to me about what's "criminal".Comment

It wasn't a great fight to watch for most people outside of boxing purists. But that did not hurt boxing, since the fight there has been a huge buzz around boxing. The upcoming Cotto fight has a bigger buzz. The Canelo and GGG fights both got Sports Center mentions, this doesn't happen without the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.
Sure, it wasn't a great fight, but Canelo and GGG had many more people tuning in to see their KOs. Strike while the iron is hot, make a few really big fights this Fall and this could end up being huge for boxing.Comment

That's exactly what it is. Had Pacquiao gotten the decision, there would be no "boring" talk or anything else. It would be a constant celebration of Pacquiao fanboys claiming his greatness.
It's a bitter pill to swallow, when your guy gets his ass beat by the person you've been claiming was scared, easy to beat, etc.Last edited by johnm is...; 05-21-2015, 12:11 PM.Comment
