It would be interesting for sure. Floyd uses most his legs for defense and Whitaker uses mostly his hips, his upper-body for defense even though both can use a little of the other guy's style at times. I think Whitaker would solve Floyd easier than Floyd could solve Whitaker so a close decision for Sweet Pea.

Precisely I couldn't fight all 12 rounds like 95% of professional boxers. I would literally be killed in the first round by 95% of professional boxers. It's why i don't box and simultaneously the reason a respect boxers for what they do and admire those like Floyd who can excel at it for a solid 12 rounds.

Floyd doesn't win "easily" against a prime sweet pea... nothing was ever "easy" against Pernell and he was truthfully never beat in his prime. But I think I would still favor Floyd who I think can match him in speed, skill, and defense but Floyd has the edge in power and I think Floyd is the bigger man ... so yea.

I went back and 3 times just reading the other comments. I am a huge Whitaker fan. I can actually see these 2 fighting a trilogy because either one could win. If I had a gun to my head I would pick Whitaker. Simply because I think he would be able to stay in the pocket and make Mayweather miss. The question in this one is, who would be the aggressor? If Whitaker is the aggressor I can see Mayweather winning on counter punches. If Mayweather is the aggressor, then Whitaker can stand his ground and outwork him.

This fight gets brought up from time to time...And it has some history. As everyone here probably is aware the pea fought Roger and what was interesting was that despite getting starched Roger did knock Pea down. He did so because he got to Sweet pea mentally and pea wanted to put an azz whuppin on roger rabbit! Which he did do but....it was kind of intersting that Pea could be brought outside his comfort zone a bit....

Prime for prime its a very interesting fight. In this case Mayweather could (talkin prime here) do more things than Whitaker, but the things Whitaker did so well nulify virtually all the things Floyd could do, so it doesn't really matter. And the opposite is true, because Pea fought real pressers like Chavez, but thats not what Floyd does/did anyway...so what happens?

Its a toss up. Prime Floyd catches you midpunch as he slips and rolls, but Pea seldom commits enough to get countered this way....And pea catches you inside and as you reset but Floyd throws straight as an arrow...So who gets lucky? First guy to crack gets cracked...

So I wouldn't expect either to be too tentative. In this case Mayweather has both a jab/ right hook to worry about, on top of that Whitaker's superior inside game.

Granted Whitaker wasn't the same fighter but McGirt had success leading with the right hand, Mayweather is likely to do more, I don't know man

I think Whitaker can hurt Floyd (keep in mind he's southpaw) but in the end Floyd will prevail slightly.

Great match up, but u have to favor Floyd, Floyd has the faster hands and probably more power, also he's mentally tougher and he doesn't get intoxicated with his defense like Whitaker. Even though Whitaker was great defensively, he wasn't the best counter puncher, Floyd beats him in this department too, plus we've seen how good Floyd is at countering smaller guys.
But Whitaker is great and he can probably give him the toughest fight of his career.
