Why move up to fight a tough opponent for peanuts?

Ward is inactive and could not sell flies tickets to an outhouse.

You're dumb. Ward would not take the fight right now if asked even. He hasn't fought in a year and a half for pete's sake. You morons need to get a grip.

According to Cathy Duva, Ward's people, Roc Nation, are in negotiations with Kovalev's people, Main Events, to set a date for a 2016 fight between the two at light heavyweight.

He needs to get back into fighting again, with maybe a half dozen fights before he should even think about fighting one of the best on the planet. What has he done since his glorified Boxcino win years ago? Nothing, but beat two weight drained fighters ( Edwin Rodriguez & Chad Dawson), that's it.
How was Rodriguez "weight drained" exactly when the most he weight in his 5 previous fights was 171, 168, 166, 166 & 171?????

I'm curious what people would consider as the number of buys they would need to hit?

If true I'm assuming they want Vegas as well?

I know I would pay to see that fight, but are there enough hardcore/mexican/brit fans willing to shell out for it to make it a success?

it really going come down to how much HBO willing to put up for purses neither has headed a ppv in states so it's going be HBO taking a loss to maybe build triple G into a ppv star if he gets win that's why triple G team keep throwing out cotto canelo and mayweather name at that chance to break on to the big scene

I do not think that would be a PPV fight in the US, in fact HBO already refused it in the past when requested by Hearn. The best place for a GGG - Froch fight would be in the UK where it would be a great draw, both live and on PPV, and GGG is perfectly willing to travel, unlike someone else we know.

So GGG will move up to fight Froch or Chavez Jr but not Ward.

Pulls out of the Tureano Johnson fight and picks Monroe Jr cuz they wanted to fight a soutpaw doe.

GGG's team on Ward: "That fight doesn't make financial sense"

"but ward wont fight kovalev doe"

scratch that excuse as another poster has stated that duva are in talks with roc nation for a ward-kovalev fight in the future.

                      Exactly.
Get the money together and I'm sure he will get motivated again. GGG needs Froch way more then the other way. Right now Froch is heading into retirement after a good career.
