I like the matchup obviously. But he ducked all of the top fighters at 118 and 122. 1 fight against a sliding Mares won't make up for that.

At least Mares beat Darchinyan, Anselmo Moreno and Joseph Agbeko (in the rematch since the first fight shouldn't count).

Santa Cruz has beaten no one of note and it's because his management doesn't believe in him. Haymon is probably just trying to build him up to a casual audience to eventually feed him to Russell Jr.

That's bull****. Mares beat Anselmo Moreno and his stock shot up immediately after. If Santa Cruz beats Rigo he's the next Mexican American superstar.

Money was never the issue. The negotiations never went that far. Santa Cruz and Al Haymon never wanted that fight. It's not Rigondeaux but Santa Cruz who was asking for $3 Million. Stop making excuses.

          He is not Mexican American.

He's the draw and it's his right. Nobodies paying to watch Rigo. He can't even get on American TV.

Show some respect to a man that has 3 jobs. LSC can't even do an admirable job of the only one he has.

Nobody outside of NSB knows who Rigo is. How's that supposed to turn LSC into star? But it can definitely ruin him. Rigo already beat the biggest star in his division years ago and it did nothing for him.

                  It definitely is.

It's not even a question of if Mares is good anymore because the perception is that he is even if in reality he's looked a bit shaky.

Mares would out box, out fight and outpoint Leo. This is a really bad idea. His entirue house comes crumbling down if he faces off with Abner.

Indeed and even if he is a bit shaky he is far and away the best dude he would have fought. Also not like Santa Cruz has looked like a world beater either recently.
